Gaming updating custom firmware

uhm i want to update my sisters psp 3.71 m33-4 --->3.90 m33

but im scared cause maybe if something goes wrong and brick her psp

whats the possible things that will happen if i updated it wrongly?

i already updated it from 3.71 m33-2 to m33-4 but i think ugrading it is a little bit different if you can please post a step by step

This is how you do it:
Update from 3.71 M33-4 to the highest number for 3.71 M33, then move onto 3.80 M33. Then update the 3.80 M33 to the highest and do it once more, the same way for 3.90.

nothing will brick the psp. nothing that cant be fixed without a pandora battery and memstick.
