UPDATE: Scalebound Officially Cancelled

image.jpeg

Scalebound, the collaborative project between Platinum Games and Microsoft, has just been cancelled. The game was initially announced in 2014, and was supposed to release in Q4 2016. The game had recently been delayed to "2017", but it seems Microsoft decided to can the project. Apparently, work had ceased on the game sometime near the end of 2016. Platinum Games hasn't said anything on the matter at the time of writing.

After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences

UPDATE: It looks like Microsoft is specifically targeting YouTube videos that contain Scalebound gameplay footage and removing them.

Even though I don't and never will have an Xbone, this certainly was one of the exclusives that made me quite jealous. Looked pretty darn cool!

That's a bit of a shame. Out of all the titles Microsoft is working on, Scalebound, State of Decay 2 and Halo Wars are the only ones I would pick up for the One. I could live without another Crackdown, and I've never even heard of Sea of Thieves before reading this post.

sea of thieves is being developed by rare and actually looks like it could be quite a gem. There's not much in the way of gameplay details out on it yet but what is out is interesting.

I just gave the concept art a quick look and I don't think it's down my alley, I'm afraid.
