Homebrew Update me and another question

I'm getting a N3DSXL later today and I wanted to be updated on all hacks, exploits, etc. I currently roam around in the Wii U hacking scene, and I want to know what's happening here (modding also). Also, does anyone know the firmware that is used in the N3DSXL at Best Buy (Christmas Sale 2015)?

if you are on 9.2 or lower you can do more things like emunand. someone else can go more into detail about that though.

yes, but you can't use .3ds files without a gateway (or sky3ds which functions differently). I think you can convert them to cia format though.

sky3ds emulates a game card, so it works regardless of system version. gateway requires a kernel exploit, which the last public one was in 9.2

as in game modding? that's possible using HANS regardless of firmware (so it works up to 10.3).

All NIB 2DS,3DS,3DSXL besides the 2DS Yo-Kai Watch bundle will be below 9.2.

I feel that if you're going to tell someone to google it, you should tell them what to search. this isn't helpful.

9.2 can do more advanced homebrew due to a kernel exploit. however any version, including the latest and future ones, can still run user mode homebrew.

since you're on 9.6 you can use the browser for homebrew and then set up menuhax. do you want to try this?

nope, unless you get a "Sky3DS" which emulates a real game card. you can't really play online with that though unless you get private headers. I don't know much about that.

also you won't be able to access the eShop right now. if this isn't a problem for you then don't update.

here's a tutorial I made for browserhax. once you get homebrew running it should be straightforward on getting menuhax running (which runs when you turn on the console).

there's virtually no chance of that happening (as long as you don't just run any random program) especially since this is user-mode-only homebrew, so don't worry.
