I've been reading thread on how to update my emunand but the only tutorial i can find are about gw omega and methods i can't use. I'll post my situation:
I'm on 7.1.0-16E, already backed up my sysnand, formatted and now when i boot in gwmode it reads gw3d before the firmware. The games launches just fine except for mh4 or ssb for obvious reasons.

Can someone help to update to the latest firmware with gateway ultra 3.1.1?

Look into updatecdn or 3dnus. The other option is to use a game cart with the desired FW. Do not use a rom to update sysnand.

i meant update the emunand with a rom. I read a guide about someone doing it, but i can't use it since the ds profile trick doesn't work for me

Ok. That's easy. First select a rom with the targeted FW updat. 3ds.essh.co has the complete list. I assume you are using the browser exploit. Hold L on white screen to enter gateway menu. Nathan hold dPad Up when entering g gw mode. This will disable the update block. Then select the rom from the multi rom menu and let it do its thing.

Make a backup of emunand first and make sure you have a nand backup. Have you used emunand tool?
