Hacking Update block wiikey, not working :(

So as the topic states the block system updates choice on the firmware didnt go as well as promised.
I inserted a bought copy of Mario Kart PAL (I live in PAL land hence buying) into my US machine with the update blocker on and the update still went on and gave me dual channels.

Is my wii f***ed for ever now?

Btw, are there any other side effects from updating with wrong region firmware? That is except bricking (whixh MK thankfully didn't do). What I mean in other words, are you sure the channels are the only thing that need to be removed, so no code is lying around there that might mess up a future update?

from my exp. u need to have dev mode activated as well, for blocking to work.
