Hacking WIP Upcoming update for the SwitchBru DNS

A major update (v4.0.0) is being worked on for the SwitchBru DNS page! See the video above for a quick, weird little teaser trailer for some of the features!

I apologise for the bad quality, I don't have a capture card - and the same for the general low quality feel of the trailer I guess? I just wanted to reveal it in a quick and easy fashion, so I can spend more time actually working on it!
The SwitchBru DNS was created and maintained by pwsincd and vgmoose. I have been editing it under their guidelines. For instructions on how to use the DNS browser, see this video.

A new video will be released in the coming weeks showing off more functionality when everything is running properly, I hope you look forward to it!

Note: SwitchBru Accounts are not currently available, but I will try to have a web app for creating one available soon so that you may prepare for using one, despite them not yet being implemented properly.

Great job! The design consistency on SwitchBruDNS is impressive!

Thank you so much! I spent such a long time trying to get everything to line up right, and it seemed to work pretty well!

I am for sure, currently have one switch on 4.1.0 it will be nice to get YouTube up and running. Netflix will also work with this am I correct?

I'm not the smartest person in the world, but how useful is DNS in exploits? How does it work, what does it even mean or do? I see people talking about it all the time for things like blocking update servers. But How can just inserting some numbers (Which I'm sure most people just leave DNS to automatic upon internet setup) make stuff like this even happen?

As much as i thought stuff like the 3DS/ WII U and psvita and ps3 stuff is magic with the web browser exclusive webpage, now some Harry Potter new wizardry stuff hits the scene, you telling me i just need a magic numbers that look like passwords to get homebrew? Where is the smart guy to explain all this magic! :blink:

DNS (Domain Name System) is a set of servers (DNS servers) that resolve IP addresses and domain names. They let us go to "google.com" instead of typing the IP address manually. The internet requires servers to have IP addresses, but remembering all of them would be hard, so the DNS servers will connect us to the right server based on the URL the client sends it. Think of it as how old phones worked, you called a central board and asked them to route you to the correct person, that's basically what a DNS server does.

The way we can use this for exploits is by creating a custom DNS server, the "password" you put in the Switch is the IP of the DNS server run by Switchbru so when we connect to them the person running the server can decide what we connect to and what connections will be blocked / redirected.

So because is impossible to manually put in a URL, the DNS is used to force a web browser to redirect to the required page for exploit purposes? :unsure:

Okay I get it now. But then why does stuff like when people say use 8.8.8.8 for having a speed boost in internet? I seen youtube videos doing this on their ps4 game consoles. o_o
