switch has lots of power for a portable machine

gaming laptops cost a fortune

like $2400 for a mid-high end with weaker mobile i7 chip along with pascal cards, 16gb ram and other stuff

All I can really say is that comparing Fast Racing Neo on Wii U to Fast RMX on Switch shows just how much more the GPU in Switch can push. Half-720p to full-1080p, a good 4.5x in pixel pushing power, while including visuals/effects not found in the original. And, according to Shin'en, a flaw in the Switch firmware is digging into GPU resources that prevents consistent full-1080p in single-player mode (dynamic resolution scaling takes place in the game when the GPU can't tolerate the load, which I believe they said is meant to happen only in 4-player splitscreen), and that the game is not an example of peak capabilities of Switch because of it being a port.

What the hell do you people expect a mobile device to have, a freaking GTX 1080?!

It wasnt marketed as a mobile device. I hate how people here say. "Well switch is powerful for a portable" No,its not a portable. Its a hybrid console, which you can also take on the go. In other words,it was mostly meant to be a home console.

Like 2x the power of Wii U docked, 5x the power of Vita as a portable. Initially I expected more as well, but that was unrealistic. To get XB1/PS4 power in a laptop costs you at least $1000, and the form factor is considerably larger.

Ah yes, I remember that analysis of yours. I don't think anyone was expecting 100% XB1/PS4 power levels, but definitely something more.

People still have unreasonable expectations.

"which you can also take on the go."
You just contradicted yourself...

This is your opinion based on your usage habits, it has no merit on how other people will use it.
I purchased it as a full time portable that I could sometimes play on my giant TV (console mode).

It's one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful handheld ever made, it's got decent console performance as well.

It's the only console out atm that isn't just a weaker, more closed version of a PC imo.

Seeing this was a thing back then, I wonder if the jury has given a verdict on the switch's capabilities.

No idea.. Those people here are an opinion about it. For me, to be honest, no idea. Ask Nintendo. They are the one have a fact source and a fact information about it.

I don't give a fuck how powerful it is (but half XB1 probably).
[OT]
Just give me my niche Japanese games that only come for Sony usually.
Disgaea 5 is a good start, next make an easy one, some Project Diva.
Then perhaps some Danganronpa, a couple of Ys, some Yakuza, one or two VNs.
Let's stretch it with Persona 5 and Nier Automata (lolwonthappen).
A lot of good indies, Blaster Master Zero and Fast RMX were good to begin.
And of course, all the Nintendo games, specially Metroid and Monolith's ;)

In short, it seems I want it to be an upgraded PS Vita with Nintendo Games... but this time successful. Hmmm, perhaps I do want that.

And yet, it's not powerful enough to placate the graphics whores

"ZOMG it's weaker than the Wii U was, the Switch is gonna fale ololol"

But no matter the specs, they will never be placated, as it's nowhere near XB1 or PS4, they expect that to be in the Switch and cost less than 300 dollars.

I've never understood people like that, if you really care about graphics horsepower, build yourself a gaming PC and be quiet.
