know that the price is £130...just £30 more than the ds, fanboys can finally be quiet and enjoy it.

i was a ninty handheld FB but bought it when it wen tot £150, from £180...and my ds had been covering with dust(until pokemon came out

)

know i cant live w/o it. gta on the move is superb as is the movie functions.

my mate still said they would get a ds over it due to price

(FORGET GAMES ATM)

but know that its £130, or £150 with a fake 4GB memcard.....same as a DS with the EZv 3-in-1 inc memory card (1GB)...

they are thinking about it....

the games will appeal to different people. but if you like the games on it, but were afraid of its price. go for it

Looking on ebay a titanium seller is selling the 4gb pro duos for £25. He claims they are original ones. I've never had problems with my fake 2gb pro duo apart from writing to it is very slow. So even if it is fake its a good deal. I've said from the very beginning when the PSP was released it needed to come down in price, if it was ever going to compete with the DS. The PSP still needs more exclusive and original titles for it, instead of PS2 ports.

£60 sounds a bargin for the PSP, it isn't a bad machine. Considering you can downgrade it so you can play games from the memory stick. It also has some full speed emulators for it Megadrive, Snes etc.... The screen makes the PSP for me. I think its still the best machine to watch movies on, even though sony use the stupid MP4 format.

Definately won't be original for £25. Sony's wholesale prices for genuine pro duo are terrible... cheapest ATM are play.com with Sandisk Gaming 4GB Pro duos at £40. Next cheapest are ebuyer and play.com with standard Sony ones £50 (though ebuyer were doing these for as little as £45 a month or so back).

You can grab a fake 4GB pro duo on ebay for just under £20 if you look around. =D

I have 3 2GB cards myself (paid just under £10 each a few months back) and find even 6GB isn't really much room what with an average good game taking up 1-1.5GB nowadays. On a DS you can fit like 50+ games on 2GB of storage lol.

Oh and 'RAM' you've been able to buy a PSP at around £100 for months if you want... there's plenty floating around ebay second hand at that price or as little as £110-120 for a new one. Amazon.co.uk were doing pink ones for £99.99 during their easter sale.

As a gaming machine the PSP is alright... but the thing is if piracy didn't exist and we couldn't play games off a memory stick very few people would buy one (unlike the DS), try playing with a real UMD, IT'S SOOOO SLOW TO LOAD it's almost impossible to enjoy the lackluster PS2 port, sorry "game", not only that but it drains the battery like there's no tomorrow. The PS1 download service is a great idea, and the games are cheap too... but why the heck should I have to have a PS3 to download the games?! Good thing the emulator got hacked I guess! Also, if piracy didn't exist how many PSP games would you actually buy? The system has lots of decent games but few that I would call must own... The only games that have held my attention long enough to consider purchasing are Loco Roco and DJ Max Portable (1 or 2), and the later of the two I would struggle to be able to buy since Sony clamped down on import sites shipping to the EU (despite making the PSP region free for games!). There are some other good titles... both Burnout games are great for example but heck if I was going to have to buy the game I would just buy it on the PS2 for the same price.

So yeah the PSP is a decent machine, if you don't pay anything for the games and don't buy Sonys stupid UMDs.

I bought both a DS and the PSP at the same time when I was in Hong Kong. PSP got the most attention because of Ridge Racer and the movie function while the DS was languishing in my cupboard. Then all of a sudden, I saw Ouendan and imported... then bought a M3... then played Phoenix Wright... and the DS was awesome. PSP still gets used for me to read manga and watch some anime but even with the custom firmware, I'm still not playing the games much on it.

I thinking of getting a PSP mainly because of winning eleven... I think the only reason why the DS is so popular is because piracy is easy, cheap (slot one cart), the games to DL are small and there are tons of rom sites. While piracy on the PSP is harder as the games the games are meant to be big, you need a specific PSP that is able to be downgraded, then you have to downgrade the system....

The screen makes the PSP for me.
Funny because the screen is what breaks the PSP for me. The ghosting is awful, I can't stand it when playing 3D games like GTA LCS. I've got enough other handhelds to play movies on (Zodiac, GP2X, hell, even my Pokemon Mini plays porn!

) so there isn't much of a reason left to get a PSP. I miss Loco Roco and Every Extend Extra but I won't get a handheld for two games.

I would like a psp for FREE!

they are currently £100 to £120 2nd hand in shops prob pick em up for £70 £80 on ebay or private sales.

Speaking of prices RAM the sony psp has dropped but guess what, the ds lite is still staying at its solid stubborn £99.99 or 2nd hand for £90.99 so £9 more and you get a new ds instead of a 2nd hand. Hmm ds prices stubborn as a mule psp prices dropping faster than Little Boy.

Yes emulation is good for it but that is just another console. The home brew scene for the psp is massive. The problem with the psp is it tries to be everything and fails at it. Attempting to make a full giant unified multimedia hand held gaming experience is a bad idea. Make the device do 2 or 3 things well not everything.

Where I believe sony screwed up:
The nazi firmware updates whenever you want to play a new game
"HEY your firmware needs upgrading for the 9th time this month because we will easily throw your gaming pleasure out the window to ensure you cant run home brew."

The Screens errrehh ghosting bad refresh rate ect

UMD Oh you silly people moving parts in a portable device its the frickin 21st century not yuppie 80's. Get the laser discz out. Sony should of moved onto a cart / card like nand flash option. But they make their own format because they are such trend setters.

Their nasty duo flash mem which costs too much money they refuse to use micro sd because they are trend setters.

I'm sure there are lots of other reasons, I just feel like the psp is dying quite fast, I always see lots in shops being sold 2nd hand.

Most people I know with psps are simply letting them gather dust, YES the emulators and home brew is very good all those gba, sms, snes and other games but its a little big to lug around. Overclocking is required to get rid of some of the slow down which is created when playing gba games.

I would not buy one but maybe I'm biased.

dude if you have paid any more than £100 in the past year for a psp you have been ripped off.

they have consistently been no more than £100 (second-hand as new) on ebay for a while.

me? i brought a giga pack for £160. :'( i have since sold it and i definately now miss it because there have been some awesome developments lately that i have missed out on.

the PSP would be so much better if the d-pad didn't completely suck...

it's totally impossible to play anything with it, so you'll end up using the analog stick even for 2D games...don't even attempt to play a shoot'em up with the d-pad
ph34r.gif

other than that, it's fine...I never used it for watching movies (I didn't even watch the Spiderman 2 UMD that came for free), but there are some really nice games...

too bad GTA:VCS has too many slow-downs with my fake 2GB memorystick
