I installed Ubuntu 7.10 for a friend of mine and whenever I try to enable Compiz Fusion it say's: "Desktop Effects Could not be enabled" I tried installing XGL that didn't work either. His videocard is also blacklisted and that's the cause but could anyone of you help me out with this ?

The problem is I have no idea what kind of graphics card he has. But I asked around and it seems he has an Intel or something like that.

give specifics, ie card model, drivers, etc

but if your looking for eye candy and dont necessarily need compiz, may i suggest beryl? its what i used and i had no hassle installing it whatsoever

here is a video of beryl:

Compiz Fusion is Beryl. It's Compiz+Beryl, hence Fusion.

If you have any Windows install on the computer, simply use that to check. Also, if you try the Envy driver installer for Ubuntu, it should autodetect the graphics card.
