The sky is blue, the sun rises in the East, and Ubisoft's "Uplay Passport" system hasn't exactly been popular. People have maligned the service, especially regarding its implementation in the recent Assassin's Creed IV, where it would potentially block access to singeplayer content. Uplay? More like Upay!

Needless to say, it's been something of a faux pass for Ubisoft.

Well, at least it was. You see...

Rest, R.I.P. in piece, you were one in a mill inn.

Who cares. Online passes never even affected me. Even when I went to EB Games and just bought a used game, they put the code in the case for me, or the code wasn't used at all.

inb4 "boohoo online pass teh suxorz!"

Companies like EA and Ubi have been feeling the pinch of people "voting with their wallets". The only question is, will there be something more slimy this time around to replace it like EA getting even more heavy handed with microtransactions?

That's pretty cool. Is there anyone else still doing online passes now?

they should give the pirates a free chance to play online, especially on xbox live where we already have to search for free month or free 48 trials like dogs sometimes!

ps3 owners are barely affected considering the low amount of CFW users and ODEs are so new.

RIP online passes and I hope you burn in hell

While true on the CFWs and ODEs, you forget used games. The Upass wasn't included in used games most of the time, which led to people buying the Upass. Now it's not needed anymore.

Also: Yay, another unneeded feature has been removed.

Anyway this is good although I could understand the reason for using online passes.

The less DRM/online pass there is, the better I say. A few months ago Games for Windows Live closed its doors, now this, maybe they are finally seeing their mistakes and that DRM doesn't fucking work?

Although not Ubisoft related, i still remember the day i got a free online pass for BF3 because i had given them an invalid code saying i bought the game new and the code was already used

I was going to say the same thing, but then I remembered it was ShadowSoldier, and pointing out all the dumb things he says would start to be extremely time consuming to do.

They should just replace the online passes with the DLC season passes. But print the code on the disc. Thus making it impossible for people to lose. You buy the game used, well then you'll have to buy the season pass or each dlc separately.
