I've tried on 2 different 3ds now 1 2ds XL and 1 N3ds and I've gotten the same issue while loading GBA games. The screen gets a weird ripple effect at the bottom. I've been searching for solutions, but I can't find anyone else who has had the issue. It gets worse when I reset. Twilight menu also over laps on the botom when trying to change games through the GBArunner menu.

Yeah, I have the same issues sometimes. Not sure if something can be done about it, but you can have a look at the GBARUNNER2 game compatibility list here... The comments may help to clarify which games you may find issues or not. :)

if i remember correctly, it may be the fault of the cluster size of the sd card

Metroid Fusion( when first booted didn't happen now does every time) Metroid Zero Mission, Mega Man Battle network 6 both. Other games sometimes does sometimes doesn't but if a game is reset it definitely haves. Also if I swap games with out completely turning off twilight menu it happens and the bottom screen gets it too

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

If I can fix the issue I'll keep twilight menu, otherwise it's too distracting to keep using might look into other emulators. I have a lot of games so virtual console is preferably the last resort.

I noticed this as well. it's an issue with the new gba runner build I think. it didn't happen before I updated twilight menu++.

the cluster size can cause part of the bottom of the screen to appear at the top of the screen if it's not 64KBs for cards 128GBs or larger. that's just for the vc though. it doesn't happen to everyone, but it did happen to me.

I was considering mGBA as a replacement. What would be the best gba emulator if this can't be fixed?

That error happens to me when I reset the game and/or when I change some options throught GBArunner2 config menu.

Perharps, I suppose that it's just a GBArunner2 normal issue related to graphics drawing/management/processing

Is there anyway to fix that or stop it? It's highly inconvenient. Also after a point it starts consuming more and more of the screen

GBARunner2's FPS adjustment code causes this.
There are plans to make it optional for 3DS consoles.

So I just need to wait for the next update for this potentially? Is there anyway to vote for it or put your opinion in?

HI,
Not sure if this has been fixed, but I get it on my original 3DS, latest version of TWiLight Menu. Latest update to the 3DS. ????

That's a bug introduced by Nintendo. Until somebody makes a custom TWL_FIRM or GBARunner makes changes to be less accurate, there's no fix for that.

I would recommend you to use OPEN_AGB_FIRM as a better and more compatible solution for 3DS.

I recently discovered a way to solve the problem, they must enter the twilight menu and in the gbarunner2 options deactivate the center and mask option, the game will not be seen in the central part of the screen but it no longer shows the graphical error

Thanks so much this worked

Noticed myself having the same issue with Pokemon Fire Red but noticed that the latest build of GBARunner2 for the 3DS that doesn't have this problem is: https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/TWiLightMenu/releases/download/v17.1.1/TWiLightMenu-3DS.7z
Any later build will have the ripples for this game for whatever reason. I read somewhere that it was just due to the fault of the coding for these games by Nintendo by I dunno. However, the later builds like the one's they're making nowadays have wayy better audio. Too bad the ripple effect seems to be getting worse after every update or so, for particular games.

But if you're tired of the ripple effect on your game, you can keep your current build of twilight menu but extract the GBARunner2_arm7dldi_3ds.nds from the _nds folder in the .7z link I have for you guys!

Builds with DSP audio are also the ones that badly trigger the TWL_FIRM screen bug, so makes sense that you found that. There is actually a fix for this, using TWPatch's "GPU scaling" patch, though really it's best not to use GBARunner2 at all on 3DS.

open_agb_firm, VC Injects, or even mGBA (on n3DS) are much better than GBARunner2.
