Hacking [Tutorial] Importing and Exporting VC DS Saves (testing needed)

Followed the OP's tutorial and it doesn't work at all with Loadiine. the game just ignores my save data and creates a new one.
 
The omega padding step saved me. I managed to retrieve my save of the fan translation of Rockman.EXE: Operate Shooting Star (Mega Man Battle Network: Operate Star Force) from the ROM I run in TWiLight Menu++ on my 3DS over to my Wii U after trimming everything past offset 000FFF0 via HxD. The nice thing is that TWiLight Menu++ doesn't re-pad the save once I take it back from the Wii U, it just stays at 64K even when I save back over it.
 
Thought to contribute here to anyone struggling because I just made this work with a somewhat different method

When getting the .save file from Wiiu, it just didn't work to rename and put it in the 3ds or emulator. Neither do I have the knowledge to do hex edit myself, and converters didn't work. Here's what worked:

1. Get desmume + rom for PC
2. Rename "WiiVCsave".save to .sav, otherwise desmume doesn't see the file
3. Import battery save (.sav) to desmume running the game. Choose the default import/conversion method
4. If this worked, you can now export a new .sav that can be ie injected into a real gamecart through 3ds, which I just did.

Hope this can help someone because this was very nice in my case.
