Gateway GO Exploit doesn't work on 9.4 firmwares.

For the DS cart I have an old one (not sure if it ever worked with the 3DS, I only used it with my DSi XL), I think at one point they had updates to make it work on the 3DS but I never bothered. Will it be good enough to run this?

As long as it works on 3ds it should be fine

That's because it reboots your system completely and you get back to SysNAND. You have to restart the CFW again.
Btw. the same is happen to me when I use my EmuNAND 9.4. After I start System Settings, it will kick me back to the SysNAND after closing the System Settings.

I can probably try to find an older 3DS or DSi to update the card if needed.

SysNAND = System NAND (Your Firmware installed on your System
EmuNAND = Emulated NAND (Your Emulated Firmware, installed in a hidden Partition of your SD Card)

Well I also have one, and lucky for you the NTSC version of the 3DS downgrades to 4.2, acekard was blocked in 4.3 and european downgrades to 4.5 <.<, lucky me I have a Ak2i and a european 3ds...
Just install the latest firmware (I think it never left beta) and use that card to install the ds exploit

Nope, you need a <4.5 sysNAND to use 9.4 emuNAND.

Alright , last question then, it looks like because I have the eshop save of pokemon y it might be possible to back it up (or even decrypt it) and if I ever update sysnand I can still use the same save file . Is that true in any way?

Because you are no longer on the CFW

Now I have a question, why do we have to use the MT card launcher to boot in to 9.4?
I tested with the browser exploit of GW and made a emunand format, booted into GW Classic and it was on GW3D 4.5
I still dont have a Flash cart, i''m just preparing has much as I can before I get it

But I am now on 4.2.0-9U sysnand and MT3D 9.4.0-21U emunand. Everything seems to be functioning without issue. (Very nice, BTW! Thank you for the tutorial.)
If I get a gateway, will I have to start over with emunand? Anything else I would have to do?
(I didn't do anything with CFW.)

I had the same problem. Just try it some more times. Seems like the booting in the CFW is kinda buggy. After around ~6 reboots it worked for me.

Think i did the same thing as this guy. You just use the GW launcher from web browser for everything, ive got it up and running with just a SD card inserted in side of my 3DS.

On a side note, i had to seek out another guide to get this to work as CFW #11

"Make a new folder (not inside the exdata folder, but in the same directory as it) called “dbs”. Go into the folder and make a blank text file, named “title.db” or “import.db”. Doesn’t matter which."

You need to make sure these files are in .db format and not just text files. Other than that, great guide, thank you!
