If this doesn't work is it something that can be downloaded elsewhere. Its SSB EUR

And it DIDNT work - really lost on this one
Do you have the URLs blocked in your router? If so, try removing them while downloading the updates. (Unplug your Wii U)

Another thing you can try is to go to Windows Firewall and add an exception for NUSGrabber.exe to make sure it can get through.

Just to check though is it as simple as allowing the program through the firewall (public and Private) or are there other settings to add also?

Also have comodo and will allow it there too

Should just be as easy as checking the public and private boxes.

Also, you should be able to watch the files appear into the 0005000E10145000 folder as they download. Do they show up as it downloads and then disappear later? Disable antivirus maybe?

No - it never appears at all (folder or files) - during download or after.
Would any of the wget extra commands help?

From looking at the cmd screen - its saying its getting replies and connects

UPDATE:

tried on the laptop last night (Win10) and it did it 1st time, still no luck with my PC though!! Go figure

anyway - installed it all (1500MB) and it is in the data management section, Smash bros still tries to update though when I go into it. Is it trying to update the system software or the game? Is the game icon supposed to change after the update I applied?
