Homebrew Tubehax DNS vs Router Blocking

I'm using tubehax dns right now (but right now it's down, and I want to play splatoon).

I would block the nintendo servers in my router, but I have to ask: I have a 3DS too, but I don't care about it getting updates for obvious reasons. Does blocking those sites stop it from getting updates and eshop too, or just wii u?

Yeah I just left it as is, guess I'm just gonna have to take the time without splatoon on occasion.

Maybe try using another DNS as @CreeperMario said :o!
