Hacking Trying to burn gamecube backups...

Ok, I just modded my gamecube with a xenogc (I know, a little late, but it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up). I decided to just burn to mini dvds instead of buying a case replacement and burn to regular dvds. My main computer is a macbook which has a slot loading dvd drive, so it doesn't accept mini dvds. So I am trying to burn these backups with my mom's hp desktop. I put the mini dvd in and Windows recognizes it, but imgburn won't. It will find a regular size dvd, but won't see the mini one. I really don't get it. I don't have access to any other computer with a dvd burner so I'm not sure what to do. After spending money on the mini dvds I'd really rather not have to buy a case replacement now to use regular dvds. Any help?

Play them on your Wii instead? I'm assuming you have a Wii, seeing as how this is a Wii forum.

Try using a different burning program (ultraiso, nero, cloneCD, etc). Or maybe update imgburn?

I do have a Wii, but it's not modded.

I tried a different freeware, Infrarecorder, but that didn't work either. Also, I was using the newest version of imgburn. I'm really stumped.

To play on a modded Wii (this is what I do) :


Use Wii Toolkit v1.1, and select GC Multigame ...

Select as many GC isos as you like ... up to the capacity of the disc you are using ... do not select Shrink ... and create the ISO ...

Burn the ISO at 4x using ImgBurn ...

EDIT : The answer to your problem is blindingly simple ... get a case mod for your GC ... but you knew that, didn't you?

Personally, for burning GC ISOs, I find that Nero works the best.

Ah on topic, well...um...try with another DVDs. Maybe try not DVD-R but +R? Or you must optimise laser. Trymowanie in polish. But it will need potenciometer.

I just realized I made a mistake. Windows doesn't recognize the mini dvds at all, but it does recognize normal dvds. I don't understand that because I was told that since burners write from the inside out, they can't tell the difference between a normal dvd and a mini dvd. Apparently I was misinformed. I guess I will just have to find another computer with a dvd burner that supports mini dvds, unless anyone else has a suggestion.

I dunno. Yeah, my computer don't realise miniDVDs too (for cameras). Hey, are you using miniDVDs for computers or for cameras? Maybe that's a solution.

Mini-DVDs should be fully readable on computers. The problem could be that your DVD burner doesn't recognize -R or +R, whatever you're using.

I use DVD+Rs on my GC, and they work fine. I'll admit I haven't used mini-DVDs, since I got the case mod for my cube. Mostly because mini-DVDs are so fricken expensive compared to full size ones.

I use DVD+RW on my modded WII
GCOS, can fit at least 4 games on a dvd

It's your DVD drive that isn't recognizing the mini-DVDs (it should). Update it's firmware and you will probably have a better result.
