Hacking Troubleshooting with R4 DS!

First, I downloaded the cheat.dat, but there's some cheats not working. So, I downloaded the new _DS_MENU.dat file (patched for more compatible with the cheat.dat file, & was posted by Narin). But somehow, It ended up not working.
So, I formatted the micro SD card, and set it up again with English 1.18 system file (copied the files & folders in it), then put a game in the card. But, It is still not able to work.
Here's a photo displaying the problem occurs when I boot the R4 DS up, after the loading screen:

So please tell me: Is this problem fixable or do I have to find a new R4 DS altogether?

Are you sure you haven't loaded the JAP kernel instead of the ENG language one by mistake ? (just guessing here)

I don't know about any of this but whatever you do, don't buy another R4DS because they are all outdated clones. In fact maybe you should consider upgrading your cart in the near future.

Did you buy a chinese version of the r4 ds. People have reported that it requires the chinese kernel. Maybe the english kernel could be decrypted and then recrypted to run on the chinese r4 ds. You would probably be better of using ysmenu though. Here is a link.

How to decrypt and encrypt a kernel? Because I live in VN, I'm sure that R4 I bought is made in China.

Tried to decrypt the ds_menu.dat and then encrypt it with the r4crypter (executing the .bat file got from iamwhoiam), but it didn't work...

Also tried the Chinese kernel.... It didn't work, either.

Using the YSMenu... It has worked!

Hey arsene_lupin_260 person. I know your prblem and solution. It happened to me before but i know how to do it. here.




1. Copy everything on your SD Card To an empty folder. (Make A New One If Necessary)
2. Once you've done that, after inserting your USB card reader with your SD Card In it, Go to "My Computer"
3.Right click on your drive
4. Click "Format".
5. On the second Drop Bar from the top, make sure It says FAT32.
6. You've already saved your files so click "Start".
7. Just Continue.
That should get your R4 working again.

If it doesn't then I can't Help You I'm Afraid.
Just follow these steps if it happens again
