Trim MKV Videos

    How do you trim mkv videos withour re-encoding? I know mkvtoolnix can split but was interested in deleting scenes from a video but having difficulty here.

    Help appreciated

    MKV is not really considered an editors format so best option will be to use mkvextract (should come with the toolkit, a third party GUI was available as well).

    After this comes joining. Depending on what you are using it can be troublesome (most of the time it involves some level of encoding) but it can be done.

    I am pretty sure that can ve done with Avidemux.

    Avidemuz kept on crashing maybe because it was 32 bit version running on win 7 64bit (couldnt find 64bit version avidemux)

    In the end mkvtoolnix did it in a long winded way by splitting video at set times i.e. setting time of split which is the part needed to be trimmed
