lol okay well I know "tabloid" doesn't really fit here, but I wanted alliteration in mah titleee
I will be blogging about my adventures in Asia in this blog thread for the next month or so. Probably not every little thing that happened but more like when interesting/bizarre/creepy/weird/etc. things happen.
First Stop: Hong Kong
We arrived in Hong Kong after the almost-fifteen-hour-plane-ride (which had great entertainment capabilities but I could barely sleep a wink) and it was about 8 a.m. My mother's friend from the states, who also happened to be visiting HK brought us to our hotel and then we got ready for one of the most tiring days of my life...
Before I go on, I just want to jot down a few observations and first impressions of HK:
- It feels like a freaking sauna. Yes, CA weather is SO nice compared to the weather in Asia. Not trying to complain but, just trying to show how much I take for granted back at home
- They're traffic directions are all confuzzled. Ok, not really, but just opposite from ours in America. I know the rest of Europe also has the same conditions, but its just so awkward to be driving on the left side of the road since I've been always taught to keep to my right
- I LOVE the walking distances to convenient places. Like all the street stores and like subway/train things. I don't know why, but I like being able to walk to 7 Eleven or a shopping center rather than having to drive all over town to go places.
- They have an interesting creditcard type system. It's called Octopus if I recall. You just like, wave the card in front of the sensors and you can use them to pay for things, enter the train station thingies, pay bus fares, etc. It's really handy, like a credit card but without all the complications and more universal.
Back to my trip...
We basically walked around and window shopped at certain shopping venues. But it was like, more than I have ever walked in a day. Usually, I'm only used to walking around school to get to my classes, so I am pretty out of shape. Plus, I'm also sick I had a harder time breathing. Shopping isn't really that interesting to me, but it was fun looking around the stores there. Plus, it was funny when the store owners tried to speak Canto to us (me and siblings) and we'd just like...inch away...or talk loudly in English so they would get the point. I got to ride on the top floor of these two-story-buses that were all over town as well as the underground subway thing and also a ferry (ship thing). I saw the tower where part of Batman: The Dark Knight was filmed. We practically toured through like half of HK. So by dinner time, I was pretty pooped. Almost every part of my body ached and my feet were as sore as Lebron James when he lost the NBA semifinals. We stopped at a restaurant so I could rest a bit and we all could grab a bite to eat, finished dinner, and then we were on our way home :]
If I can, I'll try to post pics but I can't guarantee anything.
Hope you guys enjoyed the read! And don't forget to check back for continuous updates!
