Imagine you're given the opportunity to go back in time, to anywhere, with modern technology... but it must be technology owned by yourself.

Were would you go, what will you choose to bring back with you, and why?

1975, would be a good year to start living in as the next 30 years or so will be interesting to say the least.

I basically want to live through the rise of the computer and the impact it will have on the world before everything went to shit when popular social media sites came to exist. I only had the benefit of seeing the tail end of that while seeing much of the negative impact that exists now from it. Also given my extensive knowledge in vintage tech, it would probably apply heavily more so back then rather than now.

The smart answer would be to go back to the 80s/90s with stock market graphs and crypto graphs to buy all those bitcoin and apple stocks at a very low price.

The ultra 1000iq big brain answer would be to pack tons of medicine, magic kits, whether equipment and modern tools then go to like 1b.c. and kickstart a new religion. Heal the sick with the medicine, predict wheather changes and amaze people with your weather changing powers and preform magic tricks to get more followers! you will most likeley get crucified but it would all be worth it for the lulz.

Bonus points if you get someone thaat looks like you to die for you so that you can appear 3 days later.

Impossible. Back then people had different Virus and Bacteria within them. Modern medicine would be too strong if not fatal for them.
We have a series of retroviruses embedded in our genetic code which have been controlled by our DNA and Genetics.

1 b.C. people sure were very, very different in that matter.

Why bother buying stocks in the 90's? If your only goal is to get rich, why not just take note of the latest lottery big jackpot results, and then go back in time a week ago and buy that ticket?

Not him, but aside from the local government taking a portion of those winnings away to be re-invested into the state, there is also the likely issue that you winning might make you a local celebrity with the attention you get from winning it might compromise your nature of being an outsider in the timeline. Especially if its a timeline you already exist in concurrently. Faking identity and whatnot might only put a magnifying glass on the situation more.


At least with stock market manipulation and cashing in/out you have a better chance of staying under the radar of being anyone significant in history or in the big picture. You are just a trader with long term knowledge of good profits ahead of you. Best of all your money earned will not put you in any spotlight unless you do something to intentionally draw attention to yourself.
