Hey LGC (let's get cooking), I'm gonna share some of my TIL (today I learned) IWIN (I wish I knew) in cooking.

  • You can cook potato in the microwave and it comes out fine (maybe great).
  • Salt, pepper and garlic will help with most savory dishes.
  • Vanilla is baking and sweet food's MSG.
  • MSG is totally fine and works even better if you mix it in a salty base / sauce.
  • Cut with your knife in a side by side motion not straight down.
  • Wash your rice cooker after use.

I add garlic salt to pretty much everything when I cook to gain +10% deliciousness

Also, black olives don't have to taste like shit like what you sometimes find on pizza.
Get really ripe black olives greek style. These are the absolute best. It's the best way to eat olives IMO

if it looks like this, it's good:

if it looks like that, it's probably bad:

Salt, Garlic and Onion are your friend as they are all flavour enhancers.

Also if you have to cook some meat with a bit higher fat content (example: minced mixed meat as in 50% pork, 50% beef), consider not adding extra oil or butter, by cooking the meat you could render some of the fat out and in that way use it to cook your meat regardless. This is how I like to cook my burgers or meatballs in a flat pan if I do not use the grill. This way you can keep some of the fat out of a fatty meal.

You mean, slice, up to down, or am I missing something?

Otherwise, play around. Play around with seasonings than anything else. Get a base set of XYZ and mix them together and see how they taste. Then apply to various pro/non-teins and see how they work. It's far better to explore and have fun to gain your own understanding of taste than just blindly going by recipes and being stumped when you're missing some odd and end.
