What with the recent division between the newbs who are welcoming the change in direction, and the genwunners who think the formula departure isn't very good... I thought it would be interesting to ask about overall opinion on the newer Pokémon games, and espescially the ones on switch.

So, you basically wanted to start a war or something?
Because that is pretty much all you will achieve with this thread.

Don't worry m8, I have a flamethrower rated for over 9000 Fahrenheit. They won't try anything while im around.

In all seriousness, if it turns into a war, then that still answers my question. I know that the departure from format was so disconcerting, that it has split up the fan base on a level.... That I expected. A lot of surprising info can be gained from a flame war.

So you insult the people that like the sound of the game and the people who don't? What do you expect? Christ such bait. Whatever.

In all honesty, I'm looking forward to it. I can live without items or abilities, but I feel the wild battles will take some adjustment. I really like the sound of legendary battles where you actually have to beat the thing before being able to catch it, Pokemon should be like that in general tbh. Not being able to catch something after knocking it out makes no sense lol, that's the best time to try. The master trainers is a neat idea, albeit an arbitrary way to inflate play time.

I'm trying to keep an open mind really. I'm sure there'll be parts I'll love and parts I hate, but at the end of the day it's a relatively large scale Pokemon game on the Switch, there's no question I'll buy it,

It was a joke. And besides, newb and genwunner haven't had much of a negative connotation in the Pokémon circles for a while now.

It looks more relaxed overall, but it still looks fun. Will be cool to interact with those early anime characters in 3D HD.

I'm actually having a hard time deciding between Eevee and Pikachu. I've already got a copy of Pokemon Yellow so I wanted to change things up, but the one thing that does slightly annoy me about Eevee is that he rides on the head instead of the shoulder.

Anyway, the latest (and likely last) trailer is pretty great. Animations are on point and everything's so smooth (probably 60 FPS finally, thank god):

Everyone loves this series but even as a JRPG fan I haven't been able to stick with a single one. Hoping Let's Go! changes things up enough that maybe I'll start to get it.

Last edited by Rahkeesh,
I really don't like the let's go changes making it more like go than a proper remake. And your starter eevee can't evolve. Wtf is the point of eevee if it's just a normal type. And you can't use go on Rooted phones so how the fuck am I supposed to try to complete the pokedex?

Im no longer buying the game

Instead of removing features they should push the newcomer friendly features and keep the advanced features in for the newcomers to discover and veterans to be satisfied.
I highly doubt adding a post game would deter newcomers, they'd just be happy there's more to explore. And adding Johto postgame would be perfect for introducing advanced features like held items and breeding, as those were introduced in the Johto games

And if people don't want to breed Pokemon or use held items, they don't have to. Have two separate multiplayer rules for people who want held items and bred pokemon and those who don't. I completely avoided breeding for several generations and it never hurt my enjoyment. What does hurt my enjoyment is a lack of content to explore. I never bothered obtaining mystical pokemon since they started giving them away without any ingame event to catch them. There just isn't enough to make me want to another remake of a game with less content than the previous remake. At least the original Pokémon Yellow can be connected up to Pokémon Stadium for more content, much more exciting than master trainers.

Call me when you release Johto DLC for Let's Go Eevee, Gamefreak. I'd really love to see how the region looks in 3D and how different it might've been 3 years before the events of GSC
