So in my opinion, the most ideal "Dongle" would actually be a case that wraps around the bottom, back and top with holes for the vents and game card that clips on with a bit of force.
Somewhat like the dbrand GRIP but not exactly.
It would be THIN (wouldnt be hard to do if you spread out the components to be in the area on the back, for goodness sake, theres similar things out there like what im explaining with battery packs in the back.

tl-dr; SX OS Pro, but always connected, uses the same kind of charging scheme, wraps around the entire back.
Why?
  • Slim enough to be dockable
  • Better to use
  • Easier to manage if you like to keep it in at all times
  • More incognito, harder to notice
  • Would definitely be more stylish
  • Sellable - Slap that baby with colors to sell, ez pz $$$
Best solution like that out today:
SX OS Pro Dongle with a VERY short USB Type-C extension cable (Preferably the "Flat" types), stick the SX PRO on the back of the switch with strong tape or glue (kappa) and just connect with the extension cable.
Obviously not ideal, not any bit more flat, but less of an eye sore for people who prefer to keep them plugged in like me.

We already have an internal chip in the form of a trinket m0. It works perfectly?

Why all the discussion about external anythings?

An internal M0 trinket install is just as good.

  • Slim enough to be dockable - No Added Size
  • Better to use - No Added Size, Works Fine Docked And Won't Change Grip Or Add Significant Weight To Switch
  • Easier to manage if you like to keep it in at all times - In At All Times
  • More incognito, harder to notice - Unnoticeable If You Disable LED Light
  • Would definitely be more stylish - You're Free To "Style" Your Switch With Whatever 3rd Party Cases/Skins/Stickers You Wish
  • Sellable - Slap that baby with colors to sell, ez pz $$$ - Definitely Sellable As A Service, Tiny Soldering Guy FTW!

An ideal backup loader solution is just being able to do it without having to buy a damn license. If I didn't want to pay for the games why would I pay for a license to not pay for the games?
From what you're saying I would agree with something that is very slim could be a viable option and some people have already added one internally to their device I'm sure I'd rather just be able to push a payload from the console itself device free though, but I have my phone with me 24/7 anyways.

So, you mean... Atmosphere?

The real IDEAL backup loader solution would be a backup loader within a CFW cold booted without any hardware used.
Basically the answer is no because you cannot coldboot into Atmosphere without introducing hardware into the equation.

It would be nice if you could modify the dock to contain the dongle but also function as normal, as I don't tend to play much in handheld mode

Wtf pragma... Did someone hack ur account?

Anyway best backup loading solution is coldbooting to emunand with built in good file explorer and a app exactly like free shop, search game, press a button and bang game+dlcs+update downloading :).

Also I would be even happier with a Gateway like flashcard and with dual M-SD for even more extra storage, main M-sd 4 emunand + 2x M-SD 4 games, PWND :D.

Imo ideal best hardware solution would be a cartridge as before with the ds / 3ds.
Even if that happened, it would be something like the Sky3DS, that only runs retail games and has no GUI to select games. Far from a good solution.
Something like Gateway would still require a dongle.
