Gaming thinking about selling my 3ds...

Selling the console right at the beginning of it's life cycle? I dunno, I just hope you don't end up re-buying it when a game comes out that you want.

Whilst i sympathise with this statement, experience with the DS and PSP (and even 3DS itself) has taught us to expect hardware revisions. Selling it now before they're announced and then rebuying it later when the games library is good and it's been revamped (possible second stick integrated?) might be a better financial move.

Also to address Valwin's point, the DS is still a better way to play DS games than the 3DS, and that's not a good enough reason to keep a console if you feel it's own software isn't good enough at the moment.

some perfectly good points but i dont think the 3ds will drop any further in price (atleast not a large amount), because nintendo did have a huge loss when they dropped it and now they probably want to even out things back to normal
when the next 3ds (with integrated stick or whatever) comes out itll probably be just a little bit more expensive than the current 3ds price
and theres loads of good games coming out in hte next few weeks so you should really sell your 3ds after you wait for maybe one or two more months

I'd actually say it's inevitable that a further price drop will come. As with all consoles, the components used in their manufacture become cheaper as they age, increasing the profits made from sales and giving the manufactures more room for price changes. It's possible that if the 3DS was revised they might find alternative components that were cheaper but performed to the same standard.....if it is redesigned i'd expect a similar price to what we see now however, certainly not a bit more expensive.

The game schedule is opinion so i can't really comment....

Seriously, you have no idea how good it feels to still have an original N64, Genesis, NES and SNES thats been from you're childhood.

So true... I still have my N64, GCN, and GBA... So badly wish my mom didn't make me give away my NES and SNES when I got the newer systems. She just didn't understand the concept of "no backward compatibility". lol

I Know that feel for the SNES, I had sooo many games for it too ;_;
It's just not the same with an Emulator/VC either...

True. But you also have to remember that, if you keep the original, the Gamestop trade-in for the inevitable 3DSrevision will be much cheaper. Didn't they offer trade-ins for each new DS model in exchange for the previous model for only like $50?

Generally you do better money wise selling your stuff privately than trading in. Plus i doubt it'd be that good a hypothetical trade if it was an old 3DS for a redesigned one.

Yes, it may be better financially, but then you have to go 8 months with no 3DS at all

MAHOOSIVE DS and PSP backlog.....can you honestly say you've gone through all those great DS titles that have been released over it's years? I certainly haven't.

And before anyone says anything...they look much better on the DS...

No one can argue against the fact that DS games look better on the DS, but DS games on the 3DS are not nearly as bad looking as people make it out to be. They exaggerate because it isn't "pixel-perfect". It's no different from how a few PSVita games are being rendered, in that they are rendered into a frame buffer that is smaller than the actual screen resolution, but is then up-sampled to fit it.

Now, about selling that 3DS, DJPlace. All I can say is if later down the road, a game peaks your interest, you'd have to go buy the system again.

I never had a regular DS, so I don't really notice the difference. I did see a side-by-side comparison video of New Super Mario Bros. on a DSI vs a 3DS, and there was definitely a noticeable difference, but it doesn't really bother me. Besides, isn't there a button combination you can press that renders DS games in their original resolution?

I don't use my old DS except for local multiplayer with my bro when he's around. The majority of the time, I use my 3DS, for DS/i games as well as any and all 3DS games, including those through eShop.

To me it seems now is the perfect time to own a 3DS. There are a ton of great games right around the corner(Kid Icarus, Heroes of Ruin, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kindom Hearts, etc....) on top of a lot of good recent releases(RE, MGSE, Tales of Abyss). With the backward compatibility I'd sell the DS(I still see them going for close to $100 at Flea Markets/Local Game Stores which is ridiculous IMO) and keep the 3DS, assuming you have a DS since you mention playing the DS games.

I guess to me it would be worth keeping the system as the a $100-$150 I'd get selling it wouldn't be worth it and I'd undeniably regret it.

On top of that it was a gift, which means it cost you 0(guess that argument could work either way depending on how you view things).

I'm feeling the same way, I'm just so bored with my 3DS I haven't played it in almost a month. There's only about 5 games that I would buy at this point of time for the system, and two of them ports. It's been almost a year since it's been out and unless there is some major hitters announced at E3 I'll be selling it and switching to a Vita, which I should of just waited for in the first place.

Eh. I wouldn't take it quite THAT far. That's like saying someone who uses a mac instead of a PC has no right to complain about lack of customizability. There are advantages to both, and I think there's room to complain about features that one's choice doesn't offer. In this case, It's the better look of DS games on the DS, versus the desire to only carry around one handheld for both DS and 3DS games.

The way I think of it is if you bought a brand new 3DS with absolutely NO INTENTIONS of actually playing 3DS games what ever backwards comparability or complains about it you lost it, but your right, it is a bit extreme but that's how I feel.

Sooner or later, there will be some awesome games for the 3DS, and you'll miss it. Maybe even enough to sigh loudly, kick yourself in the ass for selling your first one, and buy another one.
