Part 1, where I got the controller.

I got a BlueRetro GameCube controller adaptor by Retro Scaler, and finally got to try the NS2 NSO GCN controller on a GameCube!

As for the adaptor, it just works. While this particular one does support firmware updates, it already came with the necessary update to use this controller, so that was a breeze. Also, to re-affirm, the issue with early GameCube emulation on NS2 with stick travel not being linear is not an issue at all with this setup, it works just fine. Besides, I think it was only an issue with that particular emulator or NS2's support for the controller, not the controller itself.

The controller passes the Monkey Ball check, is slightly biased to the left according to F-Zero GX (which was also the case on my Phob, albeit not calibrated for a while), and the notches are aligned decently. No issues there.

As I could already determine and as observed by others, the buttons are indeed not as soft and triggers are spongier (there's foam to dampen them) than on original controllers, and the d-pad no longer feels like putty, it's actually tactile and usable!

Final verdict? If you at least partially stick to OEM controllers, this is the best GameCube controller in almost every way. The only major issue is that it has all new parts inside, so repairing it may be more challenging or impossible down the line.

I bought an Acekard 3 for the collection, a rare clone of the Acekard 2(i) with an exact trade dress copy of the box & label design that makes you feel like the official team passed this off. Of course, the Acekard team fully disproved of this.

I'm willing to try and make a dump of it, and see if flashing the AK2i firmware-much like what I did to the R4i Ultra-will allow me to use any AKAIO kernel past v1.8.7. Will do a follow-up shortly as a blog entry.

I've heard of this clone but never seen one. I still have my AK2i. I remember buying it on DealExtreme a long, long time ago for like $20. I got lucky with a real one, my cousin bought an AK2, and it was a clone, but it worked perfectly. It was such a good flashcard, and it's still the main one I use, even though I've had many different carts after.

Since I am in the midst of overhauling my bedroom while my knee is still somewhat functional and given the past week, I said fuck it and finally got an Alarmo…..

Next up was the nightstand and that needed a lot of work as it wasn’t touched in years. I will say the Alarmo was bigger than I thought, almost the size of an old school bell clock.

With all the new alarms and features like sleep tracking, figure this would come in clutch and also, a way to leave my phone alone at night when I just want to check the time. So it’s finally a good idea to get one for me.

Just bought a EuroScart to JP21 adapter off ebay. I need it for the SCART cable I use with the RGB Blaster, to get RGB from my AV Famicom. All my other hardware for my retro upscaler, an XRGBmini Framemeister, runs on JP21. I was going to use the recent purchase of the Genesis Model 2 SCART cable (this is what is used with an RGB Blaster) as an excuse to convert all my cables to SCART instead of JP21, so in June I pre-ordered a "621 Scart Switcher" from Retrogamingcables. It was supposed to ship in July, but it did not. Over several emails back and forth, RGC explained that their suppliers hadn't come through with the circuit boards, then when the circuit boards showed up they said they still hadn't received the exterior cases yet. Finally, today, I received an email cancelling my order altogether. Just like that. Yes, they refunded the money, but I had also ordered a Saturn SCART cable that was in stock and could've been shipped back in June, but they held onto it to ship them both together. All cancelled. RGC blames new tariffs (Trump) as making it financially untenable to do this deal. But if they had shipped the order on time in July, as originally promised when I paid, those new tariffs wouldn't have been in effect yet. Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed. Their own fuckup caused the delay, so they should've honored the deal. Just an FYI for anyone shopping retro cable suppliers.

I ordered two 6ft silicone USB-C to USB-C cables rated for 120W, a pair of Dspiae ST-C2 nippers, replacement covers for my Wii (because my niece broke mine) in white, a FNIRSI FNAC-28 power tester, 50 100ml bottles for my hobby paints (I can never have enough of them), and finally, because I keep watching arcade cabinet repair videos, I decided to order a clone Sanwa 8-way joystick with a 5-pin cable to build my own GP2040-CE fight stick. I already have a bunch of buttons from when I built my nephew's fight stick and a bunch of Pi Picos lying around.
