Damn, now Sega's seen it, oh its decided to stop being a fridge and focus more on producing high quality groceries.
Don't worry guys, I've decided to sell my fridge to Squire Enix. It's following it's dream of making countless remakes of FF7, with a different color of paint.
I will buy another one later and not leave that one alone again.

Now back on topic I shall go

I really don't see the reason behind putting a web browser on it, but for some reason I don't see the reason not to have one.

I didn't see how this translates to NetFront without flash...

Web browser on the Wii had flash.
Just sayin', even if someone else already mentionned that before.

I'm pretty sure that the WiiU's browser will have flash. If the Wii has flash, why wouldn't the WiiU have it?

Nintendo isn't THAT stupid. ...Right?

eeeeeh.. This is kind of interesting. The kid without the computer can browse the web while the house computer's taken and the tv's being watched, I guess. I think Nintendo's trying to innovate the livingroom with this thing, basically. Maybe bring families closer together with the whole "play the game on the controller in the same room" thing.

I don't know. I was a very "closed off" kid, personally. I always had my consoles in my room, and if I had a setup like that, I'd be inclined to just take the controller to my room and game on.

mynintendonews.com misread what was said and posted it as fact...what a bulshit site. Can't see how they got the title from that quote, there is nothing from what he said that indicates that.

This is a device that Miyamoto seemed more interested in discussing in terms of how it will be used outside of gaming.

You could, he told me, use the controller to browse the web in your living room. You could use it, he suggested, to find something of interest on the Internet and "set it up" so that when the television was turned on to the console people could enjoy your discovery without needing to wait for any loading screens or on television web surfing.

I don't think this is the same thing shown at E3 that Miyamoto is talking about. Sounds like in addition to the console doing web browsing and the WiiU controller have a second screen to navigate, the WiiU controller itself can browse the web independently and then stream it to the WiiU console; seems like a two-way stream.

If the controller was doing the web browsing in that it was processing it instead of the unit, then the chances of it having things like Flash would be reduced due to how much processing is required to run those. If the controller did have the capability of running those (which already sounds expensive), then the battery life would suffer when those are active. Stands more to reason that if the Wii U was doing everything, then it could also handle those additions as it is always plugged into power when on (which is one reason why the Wii had it imo).

“When you look at most TVs in home nowadays it takes awhile for them to turn on. That becomes a barrier for people.”

Did Miyamoto really say that!?

What the hell time period is he stuck in!? TV's take so little time to turn on nowadays that it isn't even funny, hell they never took too much time back when I was a kid to turn on, so little has changed.

Goddaymn...that's gotta be the stupidest thing I've heard all day. Not trying to bash him or anything, but what...the...hell.

Wait a minute, so if the controler has a built-in web browser, how is it going to access the web? Obviously I would think through Wi-Fi, but that would be redundant if they put it in the actual system itself as well.

When using an HDMI cable, my TV takes at least 15 seconds to display an image.

Up next, the Wii U will allow you to fly!

I feel like they're trying to do just a little much right now. Why not just have the web browser on the system? Is it an attempt to take a step back from the Wii? Are we trying to be as sedentary as possible now?

It just seems odd that after the Wii, Nintendo is taking a step in the opposite direction of what they were first trying to push in as many ways as possible. Now we are back to a sit down and play controller with a plethora of what seem to be very unnecessary features. What happened to just using a controller to play the game on the TV? It worked for, oh, I dunno, the last 40 years or so.

When I console game, I do it to play on a bigger screen. When I browse the internet, I prefer my computer over my PSP (for capabilities primarily), as the screen is bigger and nicer, and sites work better. I don't need one big interacting cluster to get the job done.

Gimmicks my friend, it's all about the gimmicks nowadays.

Now I don't mind gimmicks in certain situations and games, for example the Boktai GBA series were an excelent example of how a gimmick in a specific series of games can be awesome. I spend so much time outside playing them (**** you stupid storm that came in unexpected and screwed me over from purifying Black Dainn in Boktai 2!), they were so much fun.

Hell I even still have them, I play them once in awhile when I have time on my Lite.

Still nintento is taking this to an unhealthy and annoying level. There is such a thing as too many features you know.

I hate to be Captain Sensible here, but might it be possible that Miyamoto was mistranslated and actually said 'Computer' instead of 'TV'? Computers do take a while to start up and... they actually contain web browsers
