Legendary games developer Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed to Kotaku that the Wii U controller will feature an built-in web browser. Apparently Miyamoto considers this addition to the Wii U tablet controller the biggest design accomplishment Nintendo has managed for the new console. Do you imagine that you will use the Wii U tablet controller to browse the web when you’re not gaming?[/p]

QUOTE said:
“You have a screen available at any time that you can check,” he explained. “This dedicated second screen, and the way people may use it, not just for gaming, but to do things like browse the Internet, is the Wii U’s single, biggest design accomplishment.

“When you look at most TVs in home nowadays it takes awhile for them to turn on. That becomes a barrier for people.”

Miyamoto and his quotes.

I'm interpreting this as being able to browse the web with the controller, but the actual processing of everything is done via the console and the audio/video is streamed to the controller like games can do. To have it "built-in" in a sense that it is mostly independent of the system sounds too costly as it would require even more components than just streaming from the console, yet would probably only support what we've seen with the 3DS's web browser.

I dont think so as Miyamoto said that it is the biggest design accomplishment. So it ought to be good.

From what I saw in the E3 presentation, that's what I assumed as well. But this article seems to say otherwise.

Yes. My TV takes a good 5 seconds. My PS3 was up faster then it. Was annoying.

. TV taking a while to turn on o.o? hahaha

Anyway, its probably gonna be another crappy browser with no flash support and shit as always.

No, this is more of a "your controller connects to the console via a wireless signal and provides you with access to the Internet and the browser is displayed on the screen of the controller". Honestly, why wouldn't they allow the controller to stream data and access the Internet using your console as a hub? Makes a lot of sense from a design standpoint, you can go look up game information and FAQ's with the browser. I doubt the built in controller browser will have Flash support, but it will probably have the primary functions of browsing the Internet.

Does everything need a web browser these days?
I swear if my refrigerator was left alone for 5 minutes, it would end up having a web browser installed on it.

And if Microsoft was left alone with it for another 5 minutes it would hear you saying "oh I'm out of milk" and play tweetable ads at you.

And if left alone for 5 minutes with Sony, my eggs would be stolen by hackers!

And if left alone for another 5 minutes with Nintendo... well, god knows what they'd do, how much can you innovate a fridge.
