You can't find any other reports of this? Meaning your defective unit seems to have a unique problem and you want to go yell at someone? That sucks that you had some bad luck, but it's A defective unit not a common problem w/ the 3DS. Exchange it for a new one and let it go.

I've found reports of the same issue for the DSi but not for the 3DS and the fact that nobody else has mentioned this online does not mean that it's a completley isolated incident.

Because of Nintendo's incompetence and crappy quality control processes I now either have to go out of my way to exchange the console in a store this weekend or wait nearly 2 weeks for them to repair/exchange it by mail.
"I am the only one who has this problem", "Nintendo is incompetent and their QA sucks".

I see you are from North Korea... Are you challenging Kim Jong Il for title of King Troll?

1. I am clearly not the only one who has experienced this type of problem as people reported it with the DSi so it isn't the first time that this issue has reared its head on a DS-line product.
2. Clearly Nintendo do have poor QA otherwise the other widely reported black screen issues would not exist.
3. I do not recall ever seeing Kim Jong Il troll anybody, he is not a frequenter of online forums as far as I am aware. Please feel free to correct me if you know otherwise though as I would be interested to see his comments.

What I want to say is that you shouldn't get too mad at Nintendo. They did what they could to check these 3DS's, and they'll release updates to fix these problems. Your problem is just one of those special problems that isn't a quick fix. The 3DS JUST came out; It'll take time for it to adapt.

I hope your problem gets fixed soon.

You sound like someone else on this forum, screaming "hinge hinge wobble wobble".

If you so perfect fix or make a 3DS yourself.

Is really that serious? Turn it back in.

Calm down.

The black screen issue seems to be a minority of very vocal people. Admittedly, when I get to play my 3DS at Easter if it black screens, I'll be annoyed. But the black screen isn't necessarily due to poor QA. You can only test for so many things, and maybe there's a combination of things that happens to some people that wasn't thought of to be tested. Or maybe the problem isn't Nintendo's QA, it's a bug in the games. Back in the N64 days, Turok 2 was notorious for random lockups. This wasn't the N64's fault, it was the games.

As for your system, I'm sorry it was damaged when you got it. Is this frustrating? Heck yeah. But it happens, and can potentially happen with anything you buy. Return it and be happy with your new system.

Edit: Fixed wording.

OK, I think people may have taken my comments a little too seriously, which is partially my fault admittedly, but the main focus of this thread was to ask if anybody else had seen this which obviously they haven't so I will return the console to the store this weekend and hopefully get a new replacement which doesn't break this time.

The admin can close this if they want to as it has gone a little OT, which again was most likely my fault. Thanks anyway to everyone for their replies.

I'm not a mod, I just don't like when people misplace blame.

Nintendo actually has great customer service, if you return it to them they will replace it (assuming you haven't tried to open it up, but they've been known to repair systems that were opened if they were in the warranty period, like they did with my DSi).

And I hope you don't think badly of us. Many people here are die-hard Nintendo loyalists.

I hope you come back!

To be honest I did look at that first but they quote nearly 2 weeks for a return fix so I think it's probably just easier to exchange it instore as most places have stock I think, and don't worry guys no offence has been taken and I'm not going anywhere.

Well, people have been saying that they still see the 3DSs in stores, so perhaps a quick exchange is still doable? Don't forget to register the faulty 3DS prior to the exchange so that you get more online club coins.

And like everyone else has said, faulty components can and do appear from time to time.

Whoa, when did people stop posting relevant posts?

Well I didn't want to just say "This". Anyway, I agree with Rydian.

I never really watched that series, what's the reference?
He's from a show about a teenage detective who gets turned into a kid. Jimmy's the main character, the teenage detective.
Sorry, I probably could have picked a better known reference.

Don't worry dude, I caught the reference.

Detective Conan/Case Closed is one of my favorites. I just started watching it again.

ONTOPIC: People need to stop raging at Nintendo. They, by far, have the best Customer Service out of the Big 3.

Yeah I grabbed the last cosmo black 3DS at my local gamestop for an exchange today. Much better, hinge is sturdier and the even the 3D slider is sturdier.

I do wonder about that with my own 3DS. It has a slight wiggle to it.

isn't that odd, nintendo really missed the mark when it comes to consistency of experience amongst customers. the first cosmo black 3DS that I got had a rather loose 3D slider, not my new one doesn't. hmmm please post in the 3DS wobble poll as well please.

Is it effecting any game play?

You know it doesn't necessarily have to be their fault, it not like it was design to have issues or differences.

Nah, but while everything else on the 3DS feels solid enough, that one part feels loose. Not loose in the sense that I could try to pull it off (as it probably hooks around inside to prevent that), but loose in that if I shake the unit a little bit, I can hear and see it move. It adjusts the 3D effect fine though, but I have to move the slider a centimeter or so before I can feel the resistance of the adjuster inside. It even moves slightly when touching it perpendicular to the sliding area.

Sorry that this went off-topic.

Well I have it with me today as I was going to take it back to a store after work but I boxed it up again last night.

Do the online club coins actually get you much though? Because if it's worth it then I could always quickly unbox and register it if I get some quiet time in the office this afternoon.
