My copy of Diamond/Pearl was also a 2-pack that I got at Costco. Both games had no issues dumping.

When you say the copy fails, do you get an error message?

Okay so after it copies those first 400MB it usually gets stuck for 30s-5min, during this time dumper is not blinking it's led or blinking a few times occasionally. Afterwards dumper disappears from disks list and I get those errors:

On Ubuntu I get "File is no longer available" error.

On Windows I get "There's no space left on the device" error, which is obviously not true as I have over 200GB of free space.

On Android (using TotalCMD) I get "File read error"

Edit:
The only difference between my Diamond/Pearl and yours is probably region, all my games are EUR, but I doubt that's relevant.

Linux based systems don’t work with the dumper still

On my Mac I get the same error at the end of every single game that you did on Ubuntu

As for your windows drive error. It may be trying to copy to your main drive or even ram first depending on how you’re copying the file

For example if I’m trying to extract a file with winrar/7zip to my second drive it’s goin to use a bunch of ram and write files to my main drive first

So if I don’t have space there it fails

I have only 1 partition on Windows, with 200GB of free space, so I don't think it's the issue. I even tried on 3 different laptops with exact same results for those 3 carts (Metroid Dread, Pkmn Arceus/Pearl). I copied 40 other cartridges without any issues :/

Can you check the contents of the "update.s2" file in the "system" folder in the dumper with a hex editor or something similar? Just want to verify that the dumper is in fact on 1.1.6. I had one heck of a time getting mine to update (all due to the fact I was using MacOS).

If the update.s2 file contains a bunch of repeating 1.1.6 strings, then it is properly updated.

In fact i wasn't on 1.1.6... Hex editor revealed that it's still on 1.1.4, nice catch ccfman2004, thanks!

I just re-applied update on Windows and now it's definitely on 1.1.6.

Unfortunatelly this didn't help with dumping Metroid Dread, will check other 2 games in a moment.

EDIT:
I have another interesting error on windows "Not enough memory to complete this operation"

EDIT2:
On another try Windows told me that my Gamecard is not formatted...

EDIT3:
Still no luck with Metroid Dread, Pokemon Arceus/Pearl. Same behavior as before update.

Not enough memory is a ram error usually

I know that, but I just dumped 16GB Zelda BotW, so dumping 5GB Metroid Dread should not complain about memory. Especially that it's almost clean windows install (my daily driver is Ubuntu).

windows had some updates with antipiracy from ninty kb241045498 this gives you scrambled files.
my advice: try to execute operation in sandbox and will work
also turn off internet and av also windows firewall and everything related to security

The KB number doesn't exist.

Does anyone have a problem with dumping some games when other work fine? I'm using Windows 11 and Ubuntu (even tried on Android Phone), dumped like 30 different games I own, but can't seem to dump Metroid Dread and Pokemon Legends Arceus. Copying always hangs at 392 200 192 bytes and dumper stops blinking.
Yes I had the exact same thing happen with Breath of the Wild. Every game in my collection dumped properly except for this one, and just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong I made sure my Switch could still read and play the game, which it could.

Probably from the same "source" that said they managed to repackage an XCI without breaking the signature so it will still work on the MIG lol

I think that I already tried to do every possible thing to make it work.

Now I have another cartridge that can't be read - Octopath Traveller, but this one doesn't even show up xci folder when inserted into dumper.

I ended up writing to Mig Flash support, they replied surprisingly fast that not being able to dump one game is pretty normal, but 10% (4 out of 40) is not and they forwarded my message to technical department, still waiting for that reply though.

How did you manage to contact them? Their website wouldn't let me send a message. Kept telling me that I didn't fill the form in despite it being filled.

I just find it weird that I can dump games that others can't. I haven't come across a game that won't dump yet once I set up a Windows 10 VM. On my Mac the dumper just kept randomly disconnecting and I couldn't update it.

It’s been broken on Mac since release

I don’t think they are ever going to fix it

Contact form on the website worked for me.

They told me that they are aware of the problem and trying to fix it. I sent them serial numbers of my not working carts and that's about it for now.
