great work @csab6482 , you can contact OPEN MIG project, they have a supposedly firmware which replaces original one.

Thank you! This sounds like a great idea, I'll send them a DM and see if they're willing to collaborate 👍
Considering that Unlock Switch has failed to release open source hardware schemetics, then you are bringing good news. I am worried Open Mig is an arm of Unlock Switch, I hope they deliver and release something truly open that will help you out.

I’m 90% certain open mig is just an alt of unlock switch. I wouldn’t hold my breath

I don;t want to play on the same license an Online Nintendo servers games, just lan or wireless with 2 switches but if i give my gf sec. switch and we gonna play together on my games collection that will end with double ban ? For example I have 1 copy of portal2 and we want to play via lan.. ban 100% ?
Local Multiplayer is safe to play between banned/clean Switches. I've done it for years and never had an issue.

Unlock messaged me about this comment. Here is what they had to say.

They also mentioned that I could add this detail. That I omitted prior since it wasn’t my place to just share a DM without permission. A few weeks back before “openmig” was even mentioned publically either here in this thread or even on the UnlockSwitch twitter. They also messaged me asking if I knew “openmig” and anything about them. which I think adds some credibility to UnlockSwitch and openmig being different people

Here's the question of the day...

When are we going to start seeing Nintendo Switch repro game cards? Especially for games without NSO support, I'd be down for some repro action!

Technically nothing is stopping people but that’s asking for insta bans.

Oh I'm sure of it (the install bans) but there are plenty of Switch games without NSO multiplayer support. At minimum, those should be safe. Hell, Metroid Dread repros would kick ass. Especially since that was one of the game Big N stopped producing.

Any shared rom, MP (NSO) or not will lead to ban

Hopefully openmig can support @csab6482 as well. Competition is good.

Well, here's to hoping that OpenMig/UnlockSwitch actually open-source the firmware if it is ever released. I'm wondering if the flashcart and dumper share the same firmware since they receive the same update files. Maybe using something like Binary Ninja to look through the update.s2 files could provide some insight into the firmware, but unfortunately I am just not very skilled with programming.

They said special software was used. Idk what it is so maybe it is binary ninja

Look at them in a hex editor and you will see the update files are fully encrypted. Reverse engineering tools are no use here until you dump the bootloader out of the ESP32 of a Mig. What you can attempt is sniffing on the communication between FPGA and ESP32 but the iCE40 has internal flash with readout protection so they likely take advantage of it.
