@UnlockSwitch

Clarification About “OpenMig"

We didn’t fully understand why so many of you reacted negatively to the creation of an external team. Originally, the goal was to separate UnlockSwitch from all files and focus exclusively on our own products for legal reasons. In hindsight, this was clearly a bad idea.

Unfortunately, we let in someone with bad intentions—someone deceitful who gained our trust. Naively, we shared a few files with them to prove what we had, and that information ended up online. Whether you call it theft, data leakage, or outright betrayal, the result is the same.

That’s behind us now—next.

Yes, we created this team name specifically for handling firmware releases, and for no other reason. Not to sell hardware—only to release firmware.

Anyone seeing a scam or fake in this must have a twisted mindset because nothing was monetized. Just a simple .xxx file.

And NO, “OpenMig ” was never a fake project. It was a legitimate initiative meant to distribute firmware to beta testers first. Unfortunately, the chaos caused by this individual forced us to adjust our launch strategy.

To be clear once again, the initial UnlockSwitch project is far from over. Just yesterday, we even shared a few lines of code for those motivated enough—proof that work is still being done.

Until proven otherwise, we haven’t sold a single piece of UnlockSwitch hardware, haven’t taken a single pre-order, haven’t charged anyone a cent. The only things we acknowledge are the delays and our silence—everything else is just speculation and frustration from certain people.

At the end of the day, whether we post a lot or say nothing at all, there will always be comments about it.

We apologize to those who felt misled or abandoned by the project—that was never the case. As for those with bad intentions, just move on. Thanks in advance.

We’ll share the updated “launching program “ in the next post.

For those that are thinking "Wait, is that really all they did, create an external team? That's not really how I remember things playing out...", the pantomime continues.

Official Announcement Regarding “ The Team @OpenMig"

We came across a post that caught our attention.

We’re not sure who this team is. It could be a direct competitor messing with us, or it could be a completely separate group—anything is possible. After some private exchanges, they shared a significant portion of the code with us.

What we do know for certain is this: the lines of code shared are indeed correct.Their intentions are clear—they want to publish the files online. As we've always said, we’re not worried about competition, and our solution is open source.

Out of curiosity, we offered to send them a sample of the UnlockSwitch PBS and asked them to test their file on our product. We’ll see what happens.

We don’t have any more information about this team. We have no connection with them, either directly or indirectly. All we know is that the sample is supposed to be delivered to Russia.

If Unlockswitch read this

FFS just release the software for your God damn cards. 99% of people don't give a damn about your pitty drama for fuck sake... Your cards can be created by anyone with some cad knowledge and send it to pcbway.

Until you show actual working software, to example KiiWii, your cards and preaching doesn't mean jack. Put your money where your mouth is and deliver the software.

My granda used to say: do not write checks with your mouth which your A** can not cash!

They're apparently hard at work on a third piece of hardware now... a Dev Kit. Now why would they want to specifically recruit developers for a game backup device? Almost like they can't RE the MiG fw and are stuck with a non-functioning product and people realize it.

At this moment I'm glad people didn't pay anything

EDIT:
Both UnlockSwitch and Xtractor will come pre-flashed with their firmware, including our custom programming interface.

Release it to the testers.....

Ah yes, this exchange totally gives the impression that this is the same group of people talking to... themselves?

First they promised that the flashcart would release in April, August, October. Then they stated that their flashcart would use different ICs than the MIG, but went back on that and said that they would make two versions of the flashcart, one with the same ICs and one with different ones (this original flashcart has yet to be showcased). Then their video demo for the Xtractor had a cut in it, so the results are edited or doctored. After that they stated they would only take cryptocurrency for payment (retracted after immense backlash), and now we're finding out that this separate OpenMig team "based in Russia" was really just them all along.

These guys are scammers. I think their motive was originally to take money and run (the crypto would have made that easy), but now I'm kind of lost on it. Either way, they fall short on promised results and release dates, they insult people on Twitter with the composure of a twelve year old, and even MIG themselves has confirmed that the code on the few working UnlockSwitch carts was MIG code (likely verified with their own encryption keys).

Okay...

I'm amazed they didn't persevere with the crypto purchase plan. No one here would have bought one, and the twitter replies would have been brutal, but I reckon they would probably have made a few grand, enough to cover all of the costs sunken in to the scam so far at least.

I forgot to mention that the new MigFlash update app has a button to check the current firmware on the dumper. Also now a zero byte file is put on the root folder that is named the version number so if it has version 1.1.7 there will be file named "1.1.7" in the root folder making it so much easier to tell what version is installed on the dumper. This was a much needed feature.

The Unlock Team released a epistle about their last move!

Haha cant you see that they are trolling us?

Unlockswitch dont want to deal with legal issues and have said that they will not publish firmwares them self.
Only provide hardware.

So convenient that there is ”another” team right now when the hardware is done that wants to publish a open source version of the MIG😂😂
And of course unlockswitch sends samples for them to try their firmware on.
Who wants to bet against me that it wont work 100%.
And of course they are from russia also😂😂😂 (where Nintendo cant touch them)

If you think that this is 2 different teams then go back to the rest of the sheeps.

This is a cover story to protect their asses from Nintendo. A really bad one, they could have just released it anon.

OpenMig is their software team that are going to release firmware files….

Hahaha it seems like I was spot on when I made this post in September 😂😎

I dumped a few more games on MacOS using the 1.1.7 Mig Dumper and still no disconnects. Also updated my second Mig Dumper using their Mac app and it once again worked first try. So happy now that I don't have to use a Windows VM to dump Switch games. I still haven't run into a game that won't dump but I'm not done dumping. I will report if I have any problematic games.

EDIT: I just used both of my Mig Dumpers to copy 2 games simultaneously and it they did without issue. Couldn't do that before 1.1.7.
