i want to post here all the information we can find to guess the game smea used. i know he will release it very soon, but this is just for a "mini game" (just like when people try to guess when HL3 is released)

so far my guess is mario kart 7...

this is the info from smeas twitter, the game works starting from 4.0. so games which require 4.1+ update are a no no.
so i guess the game must have the 4.0 update because if had less he could support firmware before that... (but maybe he just didn't bothered to make it quicker or have a low firmware enough to try it...

in another twitter he also claimed the game can be purchased in this website: www.ebgames.com.au

but maybe is not mario kart just because i think mario kart its a game available on every region and he said maybe it wouldn't be available on everywhere...

make your bets people, 100 internets for the best and most creative supposition.

The eof is a place for fun and games!

thats why i reported my own thread so you could move if you think so...

i placed it here, (actually i am not sure really why i placed it here) i think i placed it here because my first thought was to create 1 and only thread for this subject, but after publishing, well totally EoF material, can you please move it?

edit: thanks.

Wololo seems to have info that it's also exactly one region eshop vs smea saying it was available in "not all regions", implying 1-2 regions amongst 3. Wololo tends to have good connections so I'll take his word as fact.

So to reiterate:
1. old
2. ~$5-7
3. 1 region out of US EUR and JPN

My guess is Cubic Ninja ftr. It meets those criteria and it has a QR editor that uses compression.(smea uses a compression hack in his last exploit). It has one eshop region, JPN. It is very cheap, it can be had for $5 online shipped. It was released in Summer 2011, pretty ancient indeed.

Since this is in the EOF now, everything I said above I thought up while I was jerking off to Spongebob Cartoons. Good night.

I know the game but I will never tell! :tpi:

how about making a cool story and join the "game"? you can either lie and tell a cool story why do you think its a game which is not the "ONE" or make us think you are lying but you are really saying the truth

SSSpwd = Spongebob SquigglepantS (preowned)

Your read it here first.

Nope, just joking, and its not mine xD

My bet is Dead or alive Dimensions, it uses encryption for the saved photos on the SD and it has ninjas!

I'd guess for cubic ninja, too because I think that he said some weeks ago that it's not avaible in EUR eShop but as a retail game (he said that in the IRC).

Dead or Alive Dimensions is only available on the JP eshop, it uses some encryption on the photos stored on the SD, it is a good candidate too.

Its DoA. Sales increase 100k fold suddenly. They make a new one due to increased popularity.

Im okay with this
Hell yes, I love that game a second one would be great.

As Snailface said:

1. old

3. 1 region out of US EUR and JPN

And additionally:

4. Must use a form of external, manipulable, data input from the user.

This is achieved by:

Cubic Ninja
- QR Codes for custom level sharing
* Where else have we seen level editors exploited? *cough*smashstack*cough*)

Dead or Alive: Dimensions
- Encrypted pictures from in-game photo-mode stored on SD card
* Potentially, but that depends on how the encryption is enforced. If per-cartridge, then probably no. If per-system then definitely no. But, if it's a general, universal encryption key, then there's a good potential.)

Feel free to add to this list. At present, Cubic Ninja seems to be the most promising in terms of potential to be "the one".

The only problem is that it's too cheap, 4 for $20
