It doesn't cause any problems swithching off by the power button on the Wii unless your updating or doing something dangerous on the NAND

IOS Reloading hackz, never tried, never will

Hmmmm.....

I don't really know how to uninstall. Sorry

Sorry for the MEGA Bump.

I had to since:
1)I updated the guide
2)Some of us still don't know how to install Preloader properly. Then flame Preloader for making the Wii go to its menu every time the Wii is turned on.

Will you ever be able to install Preloader on a cIOS'd 4.0 Wii WITHOUT downgrading first?

Why? Preloader 0.29 can be installed on 4.0, and there's no step in this guide that says anything about downgrading...

..... so why did you ask?

Because I updated through Nintendo. Was told I had to "downgrade" the IOS's.

Then yeah, you gotta run IOS Downgrader, just once, I promise it won't hurt

Question...will that affect my Softchip, USB Loader or SD functions (4.0 stuff) from working?

so can any 1 tell me how to uninstall the dol that I installed via (Load/Install File) ??

I'd like to know the same. How do you remove the .DOL that was installed to NAND? Also if I install another dol does it overwrite the previous dol? Or does it just keep on adding to the NAND?

Use NandClean, as stated in the FAQ. And no, it overwrites rather than keeps adding on.

[*]Softmii Team - Hey, without you guys, there's no backup disc channel loading without a chip

was it actually softmii that made cIOSCORP or did they just whack it into a tutorial?

do'nae post lies to me me lad!

Some of the members contributed to CIOSCORP

. And plus, it's not just a tutorial now, they made their own applications with the hlp of Waninkoko and Crediar. And best of all, they cracked LU64

this is a very nice and clean guide, thanks.
But can you also list all the risks involved in preloader?
My NAND Corrupts sometimes, i have to use the format feature in the Wii to get it fixed, and it fixes itself no problem, but I know preloader 0.28 would perma-brick your Wii if the format option was used, is it 100% safe to format the flash memory with preloader 0.29?

Also, does preloader have issues with drive chips? I have a WiiKey 1.9s, it was i think the latest update and that seems to prevent starfall from blocking updates in disc based games so i had to brickblock all my games to block updates back when i actually played games from discs.
It was never that big an issue for me since all the other starfall features work fine, but it is a conflict between starfall and the WiiKey so should I expect Preloader to have such compatibility issues with the wiikey too?

I'm not too keen on installing preloader just yet, my current setup is perfect for me and does everything i want it to including all region wiiware games, plays wii games from a hard drive, runs emulators and roms, i'm on 3.2 and have starfall so all is well for now, but i'd appreciate the info on the stuff i mentioned in case i decide to install preloader at some point.

Hmm, I do not think so. But what are you saying about the NAND corrupted, can share your experience?

Well, first, boot up the Wiikey config disc and set the update block (Or something like that). That should stop the update. If it does not, disable the setting then try Preloader's hacks. If it still doesn't work, try both

3.2? That's an aging firmware, why not consider updating to 4.0?

There's nothing much to be said about the flash memory corruption, sometimes it corrupts like a flash drive would and you when you delete stuff it doesn't free up space, if it gets too bad I have to format to fix it. Though tbh I don't remember if formatting the Wii removes HBC or not cause it's been months since it last happened, I think it may be a tad corrupted now but it probably isn't i dunno, everything works fine safe for space not freeing up rarely when i delete 1 block files.

As for why I'm not upgrading to 4.0, I don't need it, at all.
I don't like the way it handles that whole SD Card support, I can do that through WAD Manager manually if I so desire to install and uninstall WADs for every game I run lol, I know it's fully hacked now but why go through all that when I have literally everything running smoothly on 3.2 from games to roms to wiiware, everything works, so what do I need 4.0 for atm?

When bootmii comes out, sure I'll be messing around with stuff more maybe cause that can recover from most bricks, but till then I'm sticking to my beloved 3.2
smile.gif

Can I also use this v0.29 on 3.3u? I see mention of 3.2 and 4.0 but nothing else. I have a Cyclowiz and I am running CiOS36 Rev10 and using USB Loader GX with a 500GB HD.

(edit) OK, It seems after reading further that I should downgrade to 3.2. From what I am reading 4.0 loses abilities and gains bugs. I really see no advantage to upgrading. So I guess I need to figure out the downgrade process and then come back here and try this.

Ok guys, I installed Preloader 0.29, following this guide, i went in, Installed, then got to Settings and set Autoboot to System Menu, but after i saved settings, i did not know how to go back to the main screen to choose the hacks!

now since i set Autoboot to System menu, I dont know how to get to the preloader screen again!!!!

help... I want to set the skip disk updates and stuff...

thanks!

I woke up this morning, had toast, then went to GBATemp.net. Being a heavy GBATemp user, I know what was supposed to be in the sticky and what's not supposed to be in the sticky.....

Then I realized, my guide was in the sticky area and I was like "ZOMGWTFLOLBBQ?"

Anyway, back to the questions.

Not really, 4.0 doesn't gain bugs, Where the hell did you get that o.O?

Nevertheless, unless you're a heavy Wiiware user, you can skip 4.0. I'm currently on 4.0U and I can say, the SD Channel really is good.

Will add this question inside the FAQ

.

Anyway, if you want to access the Preloader screen, all you had to do is hold reset button while turning on the Wii.

Sorry but now i get an error saying "Couldn't find "hacks.ini" neither on FAT nor on NAND!"

Did i do something wrong here?
