Nintendo Wii isnt going to start dominating, like they are betting in spreading the word through friends. example:

I'm going to buy Nintendo Wii, some friends come to my house, they play it, love it, and go buy it, then their friends try it, and they will buy it... etc.. at least i'm thinking like this...

Yes, it's their loss.

And Nintendo's.
Nintendo can bear it if some people don't buy the console because of the name...
I don't think the name matters at all, as long as the features are convincing...only fools care about the name of the product they're buying

in the end, all the name "Wii" needs, is some good advertising...if people have heard the name before, they won't hesitate to buy the product if they're interested in it

I doubt Nintendo takes limey slang words into consideration when naming their consoles. Maybe it'd of been better to follow in the footsteps of the creative geniuses at Sony and called it the Nes5?

Just accept it people. It's called Wii. A company such as Nintendo would not be stupid enough to make a highly public announcement that is simply not true, only to change it later, confusing consumers even more.

If the name does get changed, it won't be because Nintendo had it planned all along, it will be because they gave into the bad reaction from the fans, which I will add probably won't happen either.

Even the Japanese don't like it

Holy crap, where the hell did you come from, Dan?

And as I said in another topic: Who the hell cares about a system name? The Gamecube and Playstation aren't exactly original names. I guarantee by Tuesday, everyone except for the Anti Nintendo people will be over the name. Atleast the Wii is ORIGINAL and STANDS OUT.

What is Nintendo trying to do?? With all these wierd names???

Now, I can see where they're going with these name. See, before, with the DS, it was "Touch me". Now, they'll combine the two into "Touch me wii wii". Michael Jackson will buy 500 before he realizes it's legal.

XD hey Pat, oh you know just had that urge to join.

Yeah people care about the name now, but it's not as big of a deal as it was when it was first announced, which was the overall point in releasing the name before E3. Of course people won't care about the name when they see the games.

Just like the good ol' times when everyone thought the Nintendo DS is a stupid idea. If the name really takes up to the market, we all will be laughing how we rejected the name.

I think I'm used to the new name now

It's funny to read all these old comments now
