I don't use gmail.as you has been told. but is exactly the same «waste» which your unread gmail 2001 email on your inbox
I have my own email server which runs off a few watts of electricity and uses no water.

I wouldn't say no water, your electricity comes from a power plant that likely uses waterI don't use gmail.

On my country the 99% of the electricity is generated by Hidroelectrics plants, which uses the fall of water over a turbine to generate electricity, the water is not lost nor contaminated but you need water.I wouldn't say no water, your electricity comes from a power plant that likely uses water
Nuclear for example is basically all based on steam generation from nuclear reactions
I'm sure many modes of power generation uses water at some point

Yeah, the same what for lakes and evaporated water is part of the water life cycle, so...So there is some water waste for sure
Where do you think water goes after it evaporates into the atmosphere?Hydroelectric requires dams which create large stationary bodies of water
This increases evaporation (due to large unshaded area of water being exposed to the sun)
Beyond this, the water is tied up and less is available for use downstream (municipal, farms, wetlands, etc)
So there is some water waste for sure

The exact same thing can be said about water used to cool data centersWhere do you think water goes after it evaporates into the atmosphere?

Came here to post this. Felt like the world was ending this morning.

It comes from the sky, nimrod. We're fine.AI is wasting water and other resources at an unprecedented scale at unprecedented low returns.
