Ok so this thread is basically for obscure games you have played and you wonder if anyone else has played them.
I'll start:

A remake of the first real time rpg. The original goes back to 1979!

I played this on an Atari 8-bit PC (this version); gamers were hard-core nerds in that day and age; if you were a PC gamer in the 1980's, then you were nearly guaranteed a career in engineering. The early to mid 1980's PC gamers know exactly what I am talking about.

I liked days like those; all computer gamers knew their math and physics back then. If you were a gamer going for a job with Aerospace, Petroleum, or Radiology, you made sure to bring up your gaming PC hobby in an interview to nearly ensure you got the job. It was a different time.

And yes; you had to read a book that came with this game to figure it out; it had novel writing depictions of each room in-game, and you used context clues matching the room number ID description in the passage to figure out what traps, hidden walls, treasures, and monsters were nearby.

It even opened on the note of presuming you were also a bookworm!

Kya: Dark Lineage (2003) (Sony PlayStation 2)
I was really into the PS2 back in the day. I was following everything about the industry, so naturally, I found myself looking for hidden gems. If I remember correctly, this one even retailed at $19.99 USD, so it was an easy choice for a new game.

I'm going off old memories, but I recall having a decent time with it. It's no Devil May Cry or Jak & Daxter, but it does have heart to it. I even 100%'d it, which wasn't difficult to do on top of finishing the game. If I had to give it a score (out of 10), it'd probably fall in the 5 or 6 range.

I'd have a hard time recommending it to those that haven't yet played the best of the PS2, but if you're looking for lesser-known 3D platformers, this game's worth an honest try.

I haven't played it, but it's on my to-do list. It sounded interesting back in the day because it was meant as a graphical showcase for the PS2. Unfortunately, I kept hearing about stiff controls and/or tons of invisible walls. I'd still like to see how it holds up as an actual game. What score would you give it?

One of my favourite horror games.

I wish there were more turn based horror games.

I haven't played Sweet Home, but my understanding is that its gameplay is like early Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest games.

If that's the case, the only other JRPG horror games I can think of are Parasite Eve 1 and 2.

There are a few but most are pretty niche. More recently there's also World of Horror (which looks gorgeous on the OLED switch), which is a pretty good game but works differently.

Revenant. HUGE shame this one basically flopped and had some game-breaking bugs, but it was, to my knowledge, THE first/only iso rpg to use real-time move combos for a very, very freaking long time.

Yes, the best part of the game is the atmosphere and the quite nice gfx and
sound, but it lacks in gameplay, especially the combat. (7/10)
