So I haven't seen much mention of Fractured Soul at all on the Temp, and thought it might be cool to start a discussion about it. What do you guys think? How far are you? I just bought and downloaded it a few days ago, and so far it's easily not only my favorite eShop game, but one of my favorite 3DS games, period. It has one of my favorite things in a video game: It prevents button mashing with it's genius design.

And for those of you who haven't even heard of it...

I know nothing about this, hope that helped ...

Also, what is up with the chain of gifs?

No, that didn't help. :P

But seriously, check it out, it's really a great game. I added the trailer to the OP. If you like Mega Man, this has a similar jump-n-shoot play style, but it's still unique in a lot of its own ways.

Try getting a top ten time record worldwide.
You will have to mash jump button insanely to climb ladders quickly.

In the first level best times - all times I'm #8 with 1:28:56
In the same level in best times - five star times, I'm #8 too with 1:34:24

I just added your friend code.
Mine is 2105-9404-2930

I meant button mashing as in "blindly spamming buttons wildly to get ahead." lol. But seriously, impressive times. You should share that in the Gaming Accomplishments thread in general gaming discussion. ;)

Anyway, I just added you back.

Fractured Soul... isnt that the alternative title for the Harry potter books?
Um...

Wut? Never heard anything like that.
Is that an alternative title for the 7th book?
I think he's trolling. lol

Probably, but I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter so I mighty missed something.
I still didn't see the 7th and 8th movies :D

Lol, Didn't even knew about that section.
But nah, I still have much to do in this game to say I acomplished something.
But thanks anyway ;)

This really reminds me of Chronos twins with the whole using both screens malarky.

Do you actively need to keep an eye on both screens or is just swapping from top to bottom and vice versa.

You really need to focus on both screens,
otherwise you'll die pathetically.

Just take a look at the trailer:

I think it looks very intersting, If not just a headache. The game might be ok, but i feel like it should have been an early DS title, with the gimmicky use of both screens.

You actively need to keep an eye on it, most of the time. Also, the physics are often different between the two screens/dimensions, making it more challenging. For example, one might be underwater, so you move slower and jump higher, and since you have a double jump, you have to strategically switch between the screens to make long jumps, balancing your jump height and speed ever so carefully.

It's tough, but you get used to it. It's actually been in development for a better part of the past decade (since like 2004 or something), and was going to be a DS title originally. If you look it up on Youtube, there's even an old DS trailer from a couple years ago.

Holy shit are you serious?
huh. I kind gathered that games that stay in dev mode for longer than 2 or 3 years end up flops. Too much money in, and it just ends up being garbage. Lets hope this one is different

It's long production time shows. They've had a lot of time to perfect the formula. They actually were going to make it a retail release for 3DS and even make PS3 and 360 download versions, but dropped that in favor of just the 3DS version. It's been in development for such a long time because of money. They're a very small, indie developer and I think this is their first game.
