The crime rate... yeah its been pretty low. I have personally never been in a crime nor witnessed one before in my 14 nearing 15 years of life. Though my mother was a target of snatch theft once, only once in her whole 50+ years of life. And I have hardly heard any of my friends being mugged or the like. I don't think we have high crime rate, just a small very petty thefts or the like.

I woudn't know how bad it is in the UK, but I feel very safe on the Singapore streets. I think our judical system actually is effective with the punishments.

Do you think it works tho? Like do you feel safe wandering the streets on your own? Is the crime rate there lower than it is in say the UK?

Yeah it works very well actually. Crime rate is incredibly low in Singapore, and the streets are very safe, even at night.

But this isn't due to the laws alone; our small land size means criminals can't hide... They'll be caught and punished with our harsh laws eventually, and they know it, which acts as a very effective deterrent as well.

What about Mas Selemat? He got arrested overseas.

We are effective in getting internal criminals. And of course they are scared of our harsh punishment so petty criminals are less. But some less petty ones with more expertise can escape overseas IMO.

Actually I wouldn't say its our size, there are plenty of countries whoc an;t find a criminal even if he stays in the city. I would say that our law enforcement force is vigilant and also good at info gathering. Though i still wonder why pirates like us haven't been arrested... They need to be trained on how to spot flashcarts!
