It's big because it has to contain the Nintendo 3DS, the charging station, 2 GB SD card, a bunch of booklets no one will ever read, but for some reason will keep, a bunch of unnecessary packaging, and hopefully something secretly awesome.

I remember Japan's GBA SP box. It literally just could fit the GBA SP, charger, and like a two page booklet. Now that's how it should be.

They actually have those boxes at gamestop now on display. I picked one up and the cardboard is real thin. If this is the final retail box, I hope they have some quality packaging to secure the device inside.

im sure that that is just a cheap display model box
i saw one when i preorderd too
they are too thin to be final product boxes

WAY too small compared to how these pics make them look like. Also, we get a 7+ rating too... Even though we don't use that system. ESRB uses letters. Huh.
