u could try making a clean nand using ModMii then copy it to your problematic emulated nand overwriting any potentially "bad" files. Obviously make sure the firmware and region of the nands match before combining them. But yea, TBH this might give u more problems, I really don't know as I haven't tried it before... but from the sounds of it u don't have much to lose since the emunand is for the shits now anyways. But yea, if u wanted to u could backup your emunand saves using Krafter's "NAND Gamesave Restore" which was released on the 'temp earlier today (or just backup the entire emunand before doing anything so u can always revert to how things are now).

Thanks for the suggestion, Xflak. Unfortunately, those files don't have blinking warning lights on them to showcase them being bad. In fact, I ended up with a modmii nand on which I replaced over 90% of the screwed emu-nand. The thing works. My channels are hidden and the rock band DLC is somehow gone, but I've got my most important things back (savegames and miis).

In that aspect, I must say cDI beta 18's ability to handle multiple nands couldn't have come on a better moment. I just moved the problem nand folders aside in a "brickednand" subfolder and started using a new modmii generated one. Heck...I even created THREE modmii nands just to fool around.

*goes off to create a 4.3 USA nand...just because I can

EDIT: well...now that I've (for the first time ever) region changed my wii, I can report the following:

Working (all NTSC, WBFS):
Arc rise fantasia
Mario Party 8
Tetris party deluxe

(these gave me a black screen before...I kinda guessed this was more because of the region difference than the cDI. Now I have certainty

).

A quick update:

Tested a few things with beta 18 and I have some good and bad news:

-Wii Fit Plus now works
-The nandpath feature seems to work nicely - now I can leave my main nand in the root directory and my virgin nand in /nands for beta testing.
-Metroid Other M still only works if the nand has no saves
-Some Dual Layer games (rabbids collection and metroid prime trilogy) now loop endlessly when trying to load the banner (i.e. wii disc spins forever) and the same thing happens for metroid prime 3, which previously showed up as a GC game.

Did you use the beta18+MoMfix to test this? Original beta18 doesn't have this fix

Oops - I used the original beta18. However....

With beta18-mom, the banners of dual layer games load properly, except for rabbids collection. The banner for metroid prime 3 corruption loads now, but the wii resets when you try to play it.

From reading stuff here and on IRC, it seems like many of the incompatible games are either dual layer games or out of region games. I have one EUR game that didn't work, and I will test it on an EUR nand tonight. However, I have other EUR games (i.e. Another Code R) that do work on my USA nand.

any idea on when there will be a public release?
would like to know the same thing. most of these games tested i have, would like to free some space seeing that all 100+ games are in both formats (disc ex/wbfs). atleast a public beta, if not a full public release.
great work guys.

I just installed it and everything runs smoothly so far, only a problem when changing nands, wiimote gets desynced. nand1->nand2->back to nand1, desyncs when going back to nand1. Rebooted and it resynced itself.

btw disc loading doesn't work on Japanese nand (unable to read disc), Japanese games work on USA nand using game region USA, but without text, is there any way to change the Language they are launched on? Like most USB loaders do.

Also, why screen turns green and gibberish when pressing 2 on the sneek menu?

I'm seeing the benefit of the multiple nand things already. I couldn't get the banner to load from metroid other M on my "main emu" (which consists of roughly everything I could save from my bricked emunand), but it does work on a near-virgin nand (obviously, with a whole bunch of savegames added to make sure something is actually different with rev18
tongue.gif
).

So...yeah. There is something messed up on my main emu nand, but Other M works.

EDIT: and while typing, my wii main nand starts metroid other M...Nice.

@nyanko: sorry...I'm unable to replicate that desync problem. You're sure simply resynchronising the wiimotes doesn't work?

@shortz and JumboJack: I can't speak on behalf of the team, but I'd say it's logical to keep it from public until they can at least make sure all "normal" kinds of games run. Dual layered games are being worked on, but Japanese games/nands may need some attention as well. Making things public wouldn't make the best impression ever at this point (besides: if you come to IRC, you can grab the files you need to compile sneek easily).

@wever
Yes, pressing red sync button on wii and remote sync them, but normally I have only to press A and it would connect to the wii.
I'll try to reproduce it again.

Edit:
It does not happen again... I guess it was a random error...

I was under the impression that the IRC wasn't public as well..
I'll discuss with the rest of the team what we can do about it.

nyanko:

- The desync problem is not an IOS problem and therefore not a problem of our kernel. I can't do anything about this programmatically.

- Making the di module region independent is on my todo list

- I'll add the Japanese region hacks in the next beta

All:

The DI module is nearly compleet and therefore almost ready for release. Adding support for the games that aren't supported yet can
be done after a release.

obcd is working on some features he wants in the kernel before release. I'll ask him for his todo list so I can compleet mine when I
speak to him.

Before the release we need someone (or a couple of someones) who can write a wiki and maintain a support wiki for us. Atm I don't
have enough time to maintain all of this. Anybody who wants to do this can indicate this or contact me.

Maybe I can help with a guide in the wiki, I'm fairly new to neek but I think I can help... So much stuff for configuring neek is scattered around, I'ts time to put it all together.

Edit:
Just stumbled upon a problem... when games bigger than 4gb are dumped into wbfs they get split, and DI menu shows both files, shouldn't it hide the secondary parts?
When I selected a secondary part to load into disc channel all input froze, animations of channels keept going but wiimote nor power or reset button worked, I had to make a hard reset.

The splitting is normal. It's due to the fact that that fat formatted drive can only handle a file size up to 4 gigabyte.
The fact it shows both pieces as launchable games isn't normal.
If you have issues with a selected game, than you can delete the diconfig.bin file in the sneek folder to return to default.
Di will rebuild that cache file upon it's next launch.

I use Tj-cool's complete softmod guide. it's pretty indepth as far a *neeks go, he does keep it upto date.
I'm sure once the cDI is released he'll put the info on how to use cDI.
