Latest issue of Famitsu show us that the latest game in the Tenchu series is heading to the Wii. Tenchu 4 is supposed to come out October 23th in Japan.

I never played any of the Tenchu games.. anyway.. if it managed to get 3 sequels, this should be good news to some people..

Glad to see that Rikimaru is playable.

Tenchu Z on Xbox 360 was one of my favorite game.

Oh, and Dark Secret on DS is awesome as well.

This series has been boring for a long time now.

To each his own. It's definitely not meant to be the kind of thinking game that MGS can perhaps often be -- it's shallow, the AI is dumb as all hell, but it's a great guilty pleasure for folks who just wanna play ninja. So, for diehard stealth-action fans, Tenchu probably isn't even on their radar. However, for folks who love cheesy, Japanese B-movies, it's a real treat.

I'm so glad about this news. I just hope they don't flub up the controls and camera system.

I seriously enjoyed the first two, and I did 2 stages of the DS one out of curiousity last night and it seemed 'ok' so knowing this is coming I'm quite happy. I heard the 3rd game was complete crap, but this one is done by all the original developers/publisher so that gives hope.

Making this game Wii exclusive is basically killing the series. It's already a niche franchise and although there are many Wii owners out there, theres never been a full Tenchu game on a Nintendo console (don't count the piss poor DS game) so the chance of fans of the series buying this game has dropped drastically.
Tenchu Z was good, not great but good and I'm really pissed I won't be playing 4. Just hope for Wii owners sake's, it's not mediocre.

Is it by FROM SOFTWARE again?
Looks like Rikimaru is back too by that bottom right screen.

Well, FromSoftware still owns the rights to the franchise, so they'll likely be publishing it, perhaps co-publishing it with SEGA. But Acquire (the original Tenchu developer) will be doing the developing for the game.

But I don't think they'll be killing off the franchise by bringing it to Wii. I think they are perhaps taking a gamble, in hopes that the larger Wii market will catch on to Tenchu. I think there's a good chance the Wii market will do just that. Again, Tenchu has remained pretty straight-forward as a stealth-action game, whereas something like MGS (at least by the time of Snake Eater) got so deep as a stealth-action adventure. But heck, even this latest MGS seems more toned back, in terms of gameplay -- more run and gun, if you will.

We'll see, though. I think it's going to have a lot to do with marketing for Tenchu 4, as to how well it does on Wii. If they throw out some TV ads on G4 and Comedy Central, etc., they could jack sales up. SEGA has the resources for that. But will they do it? Hmm...was watching a recent Bonus Round, and N`Gai Croal was saying there's a rumor that not even Konami will be doing TV ads for MGS4 in the States. If they won't flip for advertising, chances are Tenchu won't get much of a push, either. Of course, MGS doesn't need as much of that sort of support to sell.

Yeah, was just gonna post a link to the video (which by the way, here's the official video link: http://www.tenchu.net/four/ ).

Graphics look like a cutting-edge Xbox1 game (on par with Ninja Gaiden Black), which for Wii, is saying a good deal, I think. I have high hopes for the game. I think with Acquire back at the helm, we might see the really first great Tenchu game in a while. Plus, like you said, there's not much competition on the Wii when it comes to this genre, so maybe it'll do okay.

This will kill it eh? Whatever. Last night read on the Magic Box that there's also a 5 and 6 as it's appearing to look like some Wii Trilogy so obviously they got plans and something in the works already to say that much.

Graphics are nice, but the controls look too gimmicky to me.. I hope they know what they're doing

Looks great. But yeah, mapping the jump command to an upward gesture seems kind of iffy at best. However, I do like the behind-the-back camera, ala RE4. That should take care of any problems with the camera system. The enemy character model looked pretty poor -- right on par with PS2 -- but the environments look a lot better than they have in past Tenchu games. Of course, I'm judging that by an online video.
