Hacking Tape? lol n00by asks

Instead of soldering can't you just use tape or conductive glue to let the modchip points make contact with wii...
If so, I will not use it on the IC legs itself but on alternative point...

But I mean don't they just have to make contact?

I came up with this cause I'm not really good at soldering, it's to risky for me... and letting it mod will cost me like $150...


Most of the time I will let the wii in one place?

So can this be done?

what if you bump it?
the tape loses its grip over time?
it just looks crap?

IF you get a wiikey, it is VERY easy to solder, even more the most beginner person. Just remember if you screw it up, it won't matter untill you turn it on. So make sure the points are correct after soldering and you'll be fine. More often then not the wii will still run and the modchip just won't, which means you buggered it up and get to try again. Modding wii's is very easy and the process gives you space to be a bit lenient it...

I don't advise anything other then soldering.

I can't use the wikkey, I got a d2c wii

You want to TAPE them on to the legs of the IC? Have you any idea how small the points are?

It flat out will not work.

Then how are you expecting to tape the chip in. The d2ckey requires separate wire runs to various places on the board as far as i know. And the solder points are much much smaller then on the wiikey, and i would definitely not recommend it. You should find someone you can solder of have it installed by a professional.

If you have a d2c I really wouldn't just 'tape' it on there. It won't work properly so just solder it.
