So i've ordered my switch 2 which will come tomorrow.

And i've heard that with the systems transfer the profile and game data gets transferred from my original switch1 to the switch 2.

But won't that be the case anyway when i log into my nintendo account on switch 2 for nso cloud saves?

My switch 1 is old enough for atmosphere, but i never messed around with dumped games or illegal stuff like that, as i play with that switch 1 online (fzero 99) and so on, so a system teansfer should be safe, but it should just stay how it is, so that I can play with both of them whenever i like, simply have my switch1 ready to play.

so i see no reason for doing a system transfer or am i missing something?

sure it won't transfer saves that sre stored locally but that isn't such a problem.

Certain games, such as AC:NH or Pokémon games, ban the cloudsaving feature. You'd have to start over if you don't do the transfer.

No absolutely not necessary. The only reason anyone should system transfer is if they are selling their Switch1.
On the Switch2 you can still log into your accounts and just transfer the digital games over. Saves that do not support the cloud also need to be transferred over with your Switch1 the same way as the games.

I believe there's only a couple of benefits for a system transfer that can not be done later. Currently, a system transfer is the only way for playtime to be transferred correctly to a Switch 2. If you don't, it will still show the playtime from the Switch 1, but internally the timer has reset and will only start increasing once you reach what is displayed visually. A system transfer will fix this although I'm not sure if it syncs properly if you are still playing on the Switch 1. Also, it is the only way to transfer an alt that does not have a Nintendo account attached to it. It's a one way transfer unless you later link a Nintendo account so you might want to back up the data using homebrew just in case.

You can indeed copy these saves manually via data transfer feature between switch 1 and 2 (both need to connect to the internet).

Honestly, all I did was update my original Switch (so that it converted all of my digital purchases to "Virtual Cards"), then logged into my Nintendo account on my Switch 2. All of the games that support cloud saves will come bundled with the save file whenever you download the game again through the Virtual Game Cards section on the Switch 2. For games that don't, like Pokemon, you just need to transfer the save via the options (pressing start/+ on the game on both Switch and the Switch 2, and then clicking transfer save file.) It's a pretty quick process. I wouldn't worry too much about it!

I didn't want to factory reset my OLED so I didn't do the transfer.
It will only factory reset the original Switch if you select option meant for if you do not have a Switch 2 yet. That is what uploads the original Switch data to the cloud temporarily and factory resets. If you have both consoles it will not delete most things from the original switch. The exception are games that do not support cloud save backup, but those saves can be sent back and forth from different consoles afterwards. It will let you know exactly what saves will be moved instead of copied.
