He said "usual suspects", so i guess he has coasters.

PS:
Here is the list with the games i think you _could_ have problems with, when you replace all IOS on your wii:
- games from another region
- MLB power pros 2008
- Summer Sports 2
- SSBB DVD9 version
- (Sam & Max Season 1)
- (Far Cry Vengeance)

ALL other games should work with this method, if not, they are most likely coasters

MLB Power Pros 2008
Sam and Max Season1

Work fine for me with the CIOSPAK,

whats the difference between CIOSCORP and CIOSPAK?
or is it just another name name for it

well you can add me to the list of people who Successfully have performed this hack

. But i decided to only patch the system menu to use IOS 249 and patch each game that I burn individually to use IOS 249 instead of patching each IOS with the DIP module(CIOSCORP). That way I dont have any trouble with original games and I leave the original IOS's intact.

Been following this since day 1 and I'm blown away by how quickly this developed.

I hoping someone would pm me the link to cioscorp.

I'm still going to hold off on installing it for another day or two, just in case people start

running into trouble/brickage. Thanks to all who tested/jumped in blindly to help develop this.

Thought I would post this to clear up some questions that I've had to answer in PM a few times already.

The Difference between using CIOSCORP pack and Multi-cIOS-Installer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me first state that the person who created the CIOSCORP informed us that the method of injecting the Dip module into IOS does not work for the lower numbered IOS modules.

CIOSCORP Pack
--------------------
The CIOSCORP pack was handled in two ways. First, the upper IOS were patched with dip module. So the IOS numbered 22-55 should be the original IOS with dip module installed to be able to read backups.
The lower IOS 9-21 since they could not be patched with normal method were simply replaced with a copy of cIOS36dip7 (or similar). That is why all the wad files for the lower IOS are the same size. They are identical IOS packaged to install do different IOS slots.

Multi-cIOS-Installer
------------------------
MCI uses four source IOS. 33-36-37-55 Whenever you install an IOS with MCI you are installing a copy of one of those 4 IOS versions and adding the dip module to it.

So using the CIOS Pack you have more of the original IOS code and less clone code. However since most of the code in all the factory IOS is the same anyways.... it really doesn't matter much. Mostly because the higher numbered IOS contain all the drivers of the previous IOS plus whatever new feature/support needed to be added. The newer IOS are like a cummulative update.

I hope this helps to clear up a little of the confusion.

Also let me repeat from previous post. A few people have been calling this a permanent mod. It is IN NO WAY permanet. You can reinstall your original IOS anytime you want.

For those of you that are wondering, these are the steps that i took:

1. Install waninkoko's cios36 rev 7 (if u haven't already)

2. get your system menu wad (either by downloading it or dumping your nand to get it)

3. use the tool disscused in the first page of this topic to patch the system menu wad to use IOS 249

4. install the patched system menu wad using wad manager (This WILL brick your wii if you do it wrong)

5. patch each backup game you want to play to use IOS 249 and burn it

6. insert the game in your wii and ENJOY!

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED CONSOLES, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND READING THE WHOLE TOPIC BEFORE TRYING TO DO THIS. IF YOU BRICK YOUR WII, I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. YOU ARE DOING IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

WTF!!!! We don't use this method anymore as it's unsecure!!!! We don't want noobs to play with their SysMenu! We install CIOSes wads!!! Please remove your post. Thank you.

EDIT: 50 posts!! Yay! Wrote more in the late 5 days than in the last 3 months!

Good job on the projects!

I see that some people are still concerned about brickage by installing the CIOSCORP files. I think we can fairly safely say at this time that the install is safe. This doesn't mean that you won't brick, it just means that the files are not going to cause the brick. I think (just my opinion) the only danger of bricking is if you lose power or reset during the installation of IOS30 (used by system menu) unless you patched system menu to use a different IOS.

Also one of the last posters decided to patch his system menu to IOS249. That is the first methos we used for testing this system. That was really only necessary during the testing phase. I have since reinstalled my system menu back to IOS30 (cIOS30). I strongly advise you put your system menu back to IOS30. Way lower chance of bricking if you do that. There are many times i mess around with IOS249, and if your system menu is linked to it and you remove IOS249 you are bricked. You would be way less likely to delete IOS30.

The poster also mentioned he was keeping his factory IOS unpatched for compatibility with originals. I have not heard of or experienced any compatibility problems with originals. They all work as normal and at 6x speed. I believe it's the firmware on the DVD drive that determines if the disk is original and sets 6x mode. The IOS has nothing to do with detection and setting of drive speed.

As far a general compatibility goes.... I have 180 Wii Backups. 63 of these are NTSC 1:1 Games. 63 of my 63 NTSC 1:1 backups work perfectly. I don't have a single NTSC 1:1 backup that has any problems at all. In fact, "ALL" of the different types of game incompatibility problems that i've read about are no longer there for me.
Titles like The Price is Right and Game Show Party or whatever it's called no longer crash. They would always crash during wheel spin portions of the game. NFS undercover does not have the 002 error and works 100%.

So as of right now... I dont see any reason to be assigning the System Menu to a different IOS than 30. If somebody sees a legitimate reason to move the system menu off of IOS30 the please enlighten me.

I am suppose to be at 3.2 with Starfall installed. Since it was mentioned earlier, I dumped my IOS listings using "Title Lister" just for comparison.

Here is my IOS section from titles.txt
51: Title=1-0 (IOS0)
52: Title=1-f9 (IOS249) vers: 0.7 (7)
53: Title=1-10 (IOS16) vers: 1.1 (257)
54: Title=1-25 (IOS37) vers: 8.22 (2070)
55: Title=1-24 (IOS36) vers: 4.18 (1042)
56: Title=1-22 (IOS34) vers: 4.15 (1039)
57: Title=1-1c (IOS28) vers: 5.8 (1288)
58: Title=1-e (IOS14) vers: 1.1 (257)
59: Title=1-fe (IOS254)
60: Title=1-16 (IOS22) vers: 3.4 (772)
61: Title=1-23 (IOS35) vers: 4.16 (1040)
62: Title=1-21 (IOS33) vers: 4.16 (1040)
63: Title=1-1f (IOS31) vers: 4.16 (1040)
64: Title=1-1e (IOS30) vers: 4.16 (1040)
65: Title=1-14 (IOS20) vers: 0.12 (12)
66: Title=1-11 (IOS17) vers: 2.0 (512)
67: Title=1-f (IOS15) vers: 1.1 (257)

70: Title=1-b (IOS11) vers: 0.10 (10)
71: Title=1-15 (IOS21) vers: 2.2 (514)
72: Title=1-101 (MIOS) vers: 0.8 (8)
73: Title=1-100 (BC) vers: 0.4 (4)
74: Title=1-2 (System Menu) vers: 1.33 (289) FW: IOS30
75: Title=1-9 (IOS9) vers: 2.4 (516)
76: Title=1-4 (IOS4) vers: 0.3 (3)

Comparing these to what was posted earlier and then to the list of IOSes from WiiBrew, it doesn't match. I noticed that IOS30 was posted as version 4.15. Does that matter? Anyone have a link to what your IOS's should be when you are at 3.2?

Thanks,
Agix

The version really doesn't matter much. Truth be told, you could probably replace every IOS with cIOS36r7 and be compatible with 95% of everything that exists. The most important thing at this time is to make sure the newer IOS are patched so you have compatibility with newer titles that require drivers from the newer IOS. For instance support for USB instruments in Rock Band with IOS37. You wouldn't want to put cIOS36r7 there. You would want to put cIOS37r7 there. Many people use cIOS37 as their IOS249 so they have rock band instrument compatibility with Backup Launcer.

so essentially if a new game comes out that uses a different ios then what we already have, we will just need to extract that ios from the game disc, make a cios from it, and upload it to the wii system menu too?

Yes, it should be as simple as that. No guarantees of course. They could probably alter it's structure a little to make the existing patching tools not work with it. Would probably just slow people down for a day or two.

Hmm Starfall should be allowing us to view pal disks in the disk channel but isn't Need to look into the difference between the rebooters region free code and starfalls. anyone have a comparison handy?
