Hacking System Menu questions/thoughts

Ok I succesfully modify the Multi cIOS installer, and now you ca install between 9 and 255, but only:

IOS36 DIP7
IOS37 DIP7
IOS50 DIP7
IOS33 DIP7

wich seriously I wouldn't use it myself, if anyone of those who have their SysMenu runing of IOS249, want to give it a try, PM me and tomorrow you'll have it, I'm going out and I'll came back late night

ok im getting the hang of this found ios35 in rock band did the wad thing and it worked wii music in wii disk channel but all my original games i sent to my kids the only one i got is rock band and my backups but i cant get ios from my backups

you should be able to pull the ios from your backups as well... they are still there unless you removed them or brickblocked them all (i think brickblock removes the partition)

use the nand dumper to grab the ones you need. you can get anything thats on your wii that way

Its an installer so it is allowed.... however with wiigator warning about severe update consequences, and the number of knowledgeable people wanting to try this, id say only offer it through PM that way we dont end up with 100 help i bricked my wii trying to patch my ios's to 249 threads. And on that note send it my way as im too lazy to bother re-compiling it myself

Ah I didn't notice that you'd mentioned the same idea before, as I hadn't seen your post. (i just happened to have the same idea slightly later than u and it was noticed more)

I don't really care about credit for this, so you can happily take it (If i had noticed your post i would have kept the discussion in that topic).

Glad that people have made progress testing this out. I just hope that everyone is still being careful about brick protection. Be careful when playing around with the IOS system menu is running off, You should always test the patch as another IOS number and load the menu through menu loader clone or equivalent instead.

EDIT: btw im sure the idea has been thought of many times before by wiigator etc lol.

I give both of you Credit, Wii Crazy and OSW had the same idea OSw found the tools to do the Job, and we all kindof tested it, We all used different ideas, So i wouldn't worry about you gets credit, But really if i was ya, I would be very cautious asking for credit on this one.lol

edit, and Ether them tools work great, I have tested them on IOS35 and a few others, i will need to re-burn a dvd to test on a lower firmware, but so far, Looks good, I set it to IOS33 with Dip 7 install has IOS35 and worked, so i'm guessing you should be able to set accordingly to all the lower IOS's its a really good Program.

Update- Well I have tested Ethers Multi CIOS on the Lower IOS's now and it works great, Using this program you shouldn't need to find any of the wads, and patch Just use his program to install all the wiis IOS's it works great, But i recommend Installing the IOS30 Patched by hand cause if you loose you internet connection on installing that one, You would be Bricked, but thats just my advice, you'll just have to wait until he releases it. and give you easy instructions on how to use it does require Wifi though

Currently Selected to install IOS33 with IOS37 rev7 dip to install has ???? all of the wiis IOS's ios9 though ios55 and your good to go, now there is ios's in between the wii doesn't require or have i recommend using this list has to which IOS's to install

and if i'm messing some you'll figure it out and also i did remove the IOS first before installing, But this is not recommend on the IOS30,

This thing is frkn awesome!
I don't know why it wasn't done earlier.
It's fairly simple to install (if you have the files

) however I'm sure that a simple guide could be written in a paragraph or so to make the files.
This has been going for 2 days, and its already this far.
by a week backup loaders will be obsolete (spelt right?)

Also, do any games use IOS30, or is that used by the system menu exclusively. If no game uses it, this should have full compatibility.

It does sound like you know what you are talking about, but it doesn't really make clear sense to me, so i hope you can rephrase it.

Well, there have been like a billion posts since this one but...

Sorry, what I meant was when the System Menu gets patched by Waninkoko's Menu tool (for loading discs from the disc channel) it is this code (Waninikoko's) that needs the IOS249 in place (Waninkoko's version) in order to work. In other words, I was questioning the logic of just patching the System Menu to use IOS249 and expecting it to be able to load discs from the disc channel on a permanent basis, if indeed this is what you're trying to do, because without his code patching the system menu in the first place, nothing will happen (why would it?).

What I'm saying is, IOS249 allows backups to be loaded by being there for another piece of code that calls it (Gamma, Menu Rebooter, etc.), not just by itself. At least, that was my impression.

I think the reason Waninkoko didn't make it permanent is the 3x issue would be permanent even for mod chips or originals.

So, it may be I don't understand the hack being tried...

Listen Up Everyone I've got it Working Playing Burnt Games No Backup Loader or Menu Patcher
Haaaaaaaaa it works. Having the system menu patched to IOS249 and having the Wii game patched to IOS249 at the same time works, I'm playing wii music Right now, no backup loader no menu patcher, just using the Wii Disc Channel

Use Is the Instructions
First Install the CIOS Rev7 on your Wii Then get the System Menu wad and patch it to run off of IOS249 you can get the program on the first page, then patch your system menu wad to IOS249, but first make sure to have CIOS rev7 Installed use anytite deleter to make sure its installed after that install the System menu Patched Wad with Wad Manager,
Then download a wii Game i tested this Wii Music non patched take the Wii ISO and patch it to run off of IOS249, I used the program IOSpatcher 1.1 and burn I used Nero8 at 4x speed Thats It, Works like a charm.

I see, since you patch the GAME to use IOS249 to make this work, therefore originals still run at 6x.

Nice work, but I don't mind using Menu Rebooter each time. I'd rather do that than risk anything with all of this patching, not with my only Wii anyway.

I only patched the System Menu to IOS249, didn't install any other cIOS's. I guess the main use I have for this configuration is 1: ability to recovery boot wad manager DVD, and I like the Menu installed to IOS249 so that I can Identify which Game is in the drive. If I wan to run the game I can just use Menu Patcher, or still Launch from Backup Loader or Softchip. BTW, cIOS37 for Rock Band should be installed as IOS37 for Rock Band compatibility from Disc Menu, am I correct? Since cIOS37 already had the ability to launch backups.

All PatchMii Clones don't allow to install a cIOS to IOS30!, most of them get into an infinite loop if you try, before the installation starts. That's a security check. The latest version of my multi_cios_installer(0.31) lets you return to the HBC if you selected IOS30(or IOS50). There's already somebody who bricked his Wii with this, as he deleted IOS30 and then tried to install it. Just use something else than the multi_cios_installer to patch IOS30
