I thought upgrading my SD was as easy as backing up my files then dropping them onto my new SD, this is not the case I learned. Going from 256gb->512gb

Where I am now:
  • NSPs are gone
  • "Emunand enabled" on SXOS boot menu is now gone
  • SXOS homebrew menu works fine
  • HB Menu works fine
  • Gamecarts not working
I have seen guides where you can clone your original SD card to a file, However I copied the original file system (as well as my backup) on my desktop. Then I formatted the original SD for use on my phone shortly after, so I can not make a clone from the original SD. I am wondering what I can do now with the original files or if I'm going to have to start from scratch and create a new emunand and re-install my NSPs.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated, thank you!

You likely have your emunand as an extra partition on the original SD card.

It's possible there are tools for the Switch to extra and copy this partition, but the method in this thread will backup the entire SD card and restore it to the new one, you then just expand the main partition to give you back the new space.

the original files from that SD backed up but that is it.

I already formatted the original SD but backed up all the original files on to my desktop. That’s the issue I’m having I don’t think I can use this technique anymore as it’s now just a blank exfat card.

I’m aware of this cloning method but I assume that partition is not accessible anymore due to this. I have to start from scratch I assume yes?

You can check within disk management to see if you have a 30GB unformatted space. If the whole card is formatted then you are out of luck.

Alright so I reinstalled my emunand, reloaded all my homebrew and roms for emulators. I have my console back to normal except one crucial component. I now can't use any damn game carts. I always receive an error saying it's unable to boot.

My new 512gb sandisk card is completely legit, my file system is fat32. Yet physical games do not work at all. I tried booting into OFW and the second the system detects that game cart in its slot the whole system crashes.

EDIT: I forgot to fix my system time and the game now detects. I didn't realize how crucial this was, I also just didn't notice until I tried booting tinfoil. For anyone who may stumble upon this issue and finds this thread I'll leave this post here.

I appreciate all the help everyone. Thank you
