Not sure what I feel about this. The obvious thing to compare it to would be the gateway stuff ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/warning-gateway-team-bricks-card-on-purpose.360568/ ), however that seemed far less well handled than this appears to be at this point.

Will have to both refresh myself on the gateway specifics and learn more of what goes here. I am certainly not a fan of bricking code being out there like that though.

The gateway team said the same thing about it only affecting "pirates" and that it wouldn't harm legit users. Whether they were legit or not, reports did come in from geniune users who got bricked on gateway. Either way brick code is a bad idea even if it only affects a small number of legit users.
It shouldn't affect any normal users. It hasn't yet, so why care?

They should provide a way for lambda user to unlock it with console specific payload.

I mean there is maybe a tiny chance it trigger the wrong person and there it will be a pain in ass for both of seller and buyer.
Imagine someone who brought it and can prove it got bricked.. (I doubt it will but being caution and ready for all it's always better :)

Sorry, but locking people out of their own device with a password is malicious, no matter what the reason is. Especially when it's someone selling piracy-enabling devices doing it. Damn.
Yeah, but if I'm selling a shady device, and I don't want people reversing it, I'd do it.
It's like protecting your drug den with guns.
If Nintendo bricked hackers for hacking, that's different, they would get sued.

No one will sue tx lol (although Nintendo probably want to)

Sorry, but "it's not the kind of thing to mistrigger" isn't good enough for me.

I bet the Gateway devs didn't think it would mistrigger either.
More importantly, it shouldn't matter how it's triggered. It's still a shady thing to do.

I know why they did it, but they're just making themselves look bad by doing it.

1st video- That's why I hate ordering stuff online, if I can just go pick it up myself nearby. Wal-Mart online did that to me years ago, sent wrong item, I went to Wal-Mart by me to return, but noo, I had to mail it back and wait.

99% of the time ordering online I have had flawless experiences, only time something was messed up, I ordered a big TV from Amazon and it came smashed the box was literally like some one jumped up and down on it, didn't even open it, contacted Amazon sent them pictures, they made me open it and take more pictures, free label to return it and they sent another. So it was relatively painless. But still annoying.
