Not sure, some people are speculating it's a patch for fake_news, I don't think they'd do that tho. It's just an alternative to the web portal stuff. Not an actual exploit or anything.

Console updates are so nebulous. I wonder how many people at ninty even know what these updates actually contain. Everything is so modular that I doubt most people know what's going on outside of their departments.

Not if you were on 4.1, if on 5.0 then there's probably no harm.

5.0.0 wasnt playing nice with any third party accessories, maybe this is a fix to prevent the bricks and crashes that were happening.
