No, not really. The fan will spin more to combat it.
It doesn't really get any hotter on my tests.
If your switch gets crazy hot its most likely that their shitty default thermal paste isn't making good contact.
Theoretically speaking, the switch can support up to 1.9 without issues, right? since that was the default design of the SoC.

No.
The CPU? Yes. The whole package tho: no.
1.9 is too much, long term.
Yeah, i was referring to the CPU, my bad, what would be the more affected section / hardware from the switch?

IMHO overclocking for emulation is really not worth it, its a good thing that it exist, but not for the emulation, as there are even lower devices that can handle N64 such as the Xperia Play, that was using a Single Core MSM8255 running a 1GHz, and even more devices with literally 800mhz processors.

Dynarec would be cool if it comes at his time, overclocking could really improve thing for games that lag spikes, or suffer from slowdows, but IMHO, not for PSP / N64 emulation, in long term speaking.

The thing Is that those Android based devices have better API than the homebrew SDK on the Switch, even on Lakka.

Did Lakka also have overclocking enabled?
I am wondering how the more heavy cores would perform with overclock enabled, but I think those heavy cores (ppsspp/dolphin) are only available in Lakka atm.
It'd be interesting to see how those perform in HOS with OC, but they aren't in the RA buildbot yet.

Thank God we will be able to overclock the Switch with Software! No need for a Hardware mod then!:creep:

Swapping out thermal paste isn't exactly a user friendly process for the majority of users.
its not hard and if yours is getting hot that means it wasn't properly put on in the manufacturing process might want to send it back to them soo that they can try and do a better job lol

Meh, I keep it docked 95% of the time anyway, can't be arsed to send it and end up losing all my data.

Here's the ultimate solution for all you lads worried about overclock overheating your device:
  1. Buy a USB-C to USB-C extension cable.
  2. Connect the female USB-C plug the extension cable to the Switch dock
  3. Connect the male USB-C plug to the Switch
  4. With the extension cable connected to the Switch, grab a bucket full of ice+salt and put the Switch inside
  5. ???
  6. Profit
