Hey All,

Just tried installing a picofly on my old. It wasn't booting so I started to remove the picofly bit to troubleshoot and noticed I nicked the apu.
Is this a complete write off?

That chipped off corner in itself should be no issue i think because no traces are present in that edge corner.
There could be secondary damage because you might have accidentally lifted up/pushed down the APU until the corner broke off.
Before trying something like reballing/reflowing the APU,
I would first look at the PCB around the shield to see if there is any other damage.

There are more causes for the Switch not to turn on besides the APU ranging like PCB damage, MMC issues, knocked off components or just a bad encounter with static electricity.
Search through the picofly sticky thread for more details.

Thanks Jack! Really appreciate the vote of confidence. It's given me second wind to get back at it tomorrow. I'll report back as it progresses!!

So I've cleaned up the board and removed any extra solder I could see, also cleaned the ribbon cables but I'm still getting nothing when plugged in,
I also went around the points used to solder the mod chip on and took some diode and continuity tests and nothing is standing out.
Id be surprised if it was static damage I'm pretty safe with this, my iron has a wrist strap to ground too.
Does any one have input to help me troubleshoot this further? Thanks in advance!

I believe it is the point d on the board that you scrape and solder too. Im thinking I went to far. I put my multimeter in diode 2000 on the multi meter I have and it shows as 1445 which is high compared to the videos Ive watched.

Also got my USB tester today and I gentally exposed the trace by the CPU and soldered it to the point I believe I over scraped and I'm getting .37amp. Hoping if I get a stronger connection ill be good
but I welcome any input

For those experiencing the same it was due to over scraping point A.
the resolution was running a jumper wire with .1mm copper further up the trace.
I owe the fix to Tvpartsworld and you can view the fix 8 mins in on this video!! (The man is a legend)
